Intrigue is growing ! Neither John nor Jack, Tim or Alan ever won ACF National. Will this be broken and we have a brand new name on list of Champs ? John Webster was two times second in USA GAYP Nationals in 1997 and 2007. Jack also was 2nd and 3rd several times.

John, Eric served our country in Iraq and now, after returning back, his enthusiam is targeting into other fields ... such as checkers  I really want him and his wife take care of ACF ratings. That will be a very good start and something extremely valuable and benefiiciary.

I am very bad gambling player and horrible predictor  , but in order to support good spirit I'll take a chance.

My bet is - Richard Hallett. However your choice of horse makes alot of sense. Jim main problem is - low practice and usually he doesn't do very well in the beginning and much better at the end of events. Now, when torunament start is over and he've got a lead, he is a danger opponent and his arms are strong and full.

What a wonderful mess :D :D Typical situation when there is no obvious leader. Everyone from top 6 players has a chance to win a tournament and one bad game or even move can overturn everything and change a course of history ! I am very jelious for not being a part of this drama

Byes soon should hit a leading group and also can add more gas to fire and make it more uncertain. From 15 players two should not receive a bye. Who might be these unlucky guys ?

Josh, come on - nothing over yet. It is over only when you decide so !

Alex

Guess what ... he called me yesterday (!!!) and we had a wonderful conversation about many things, and developed some sort of "business plan" for future actions. We discussed how his ideas and offers can be utilized, how I can help him and how he can help me.

We spoke about current and future of checkers and ACF. The only difference we find - Eric is "aggressive optimist" and I am "cautious optimist", so - our strategy and tactic are slight differ, but this is normal way for doing business and share things.

Stay on for more news

Special Armchair Quarterback Award for Non-Attendance: Eric Strange, whoever the heck that is.
Private Eric Strange. He fought in Iraq defending our country. Not many people know this, but his convoy in Iraq came upon an IED. Several of his comrades were injured, but due to his quick thinking he was able to save someones life, though they did lose a leg. And this was despite the fact that his main job in the army was as a IT specialist. His job was mainly to set up the communication network, allowing the soldiers to call home and relay material information to each other. He even received a medal for his bravery, but you'll have to ask him which one. Eric's passion for the game and his technological ability should not be overlooked. If he wasn't the sole breadwinner for his family (he has a 1 year old daughter and a wife with special needs), then I can guarantee you that he would be in TN right now.

So before you sarcastically hand out these "awards" John, you need to ask yourself what have you contributed to the world? You're an English major, you should be able to figure out that that was a rhetorical question.
Ok, first off Josh is the most hilarious person I've ever met. I was never blown up by an IED or saved a buddy with a blown off leg. I was not a private... I was a SPC (Specialist). I am the Bread winner for my family but my wife is not special needs. I think many of you know that because you met her in 2007. My job was indeed Information Technology Specialist... and still is in the civilian world. Last but not least... I do have a 1 year old daughter. Maybe I'll post a picture so you can all tell me how cute she is.

Josh Armstrong wrote:Eric is just being too modest. Back when he was Iraq, he and I would converse by e-mail. A little background information: before Eric decided to enlist in the army he was a rebel without a cause. He would play checkers on Yahoo!, then go out at night and get drunk. When he was 19, his father kicked him out. Realizing that he needed to change his life around, he became a born-again Christian and joined the U.S. Army to make something out of himself. I talked to him a few times while he was stationed in Iraq. I clearly remembered that one day he emailed me and said that the previous day his convoy was attacked while in route to Fallujah. For his actions he was even commended by his commanding officer. After this attack, he was relocated to Germany, where he met his wife. She was doing coke lines on top of a urinal in this German pub, he then decided to help get her life straightened out. He then came back to the states and went on medical disability. He has hypertension, PTSD, osteoarthritis, and insomina. Yet despite all this, he competed in the 2007 Nationals tournament and won minors. Eric is a very modest fellow, but I think the world should know of his bravery and all of his accomplishments. I mean he is now the head IT specialist at a technological firm in Colorado, has a beautiful 1 year old daughter, and a wife whose been clean for almost two years now. Eric is a family man. He just got offered a position at Cisco Systems, but turned it down due to the negative impact that it would of had on his infant daughter.

Now with the extra time, he wants to help ACF, but his ideas have fallen on deaf ears. Eric is definitely an optimist, so we should all listen to him instead of labeling his release of ambition as improper. What better medium than the forum?

.............. ROFLMMFAO HAHAHA I am not even gonna begin to correct all the things that are wrong with this post. As far as you go John ... I had stopped talking to you because i think just speaking to you on a forum has dropped my IQ a good 30 points... but you cant seem to hush... I am better at checkers than you... I am wayyyy more attractive than you... I'm just better at life in general.... so what is there to even try and piss about? Please stop talking to me. GG
