ACF webpage update
I have been reading the forum some lately. I am wondering who is in charge of the ACF webpage updates ?
Oklahoma tilte has been vacant for a number of years but recently updated with a new state champion. I was wondering
on what basis this title was determined?

ACF is doing better
No Kidding. ACF is not something or someone from another planet - it's us. When we criticize ACF, we criticize ourself. When Josh updated Roster of Champions - it's benefited all of us and ACF. One of the major problem of any organoization is - lack of active enthusiasts. And any new helpers are highly wanted and appreciated.
Thanks alot, Josh ! With your quick fixing an error you made me, Wayne Gober and many others a day !
But remember ... We soon have IN, OH & VA State ty's in September and and information needs to be updated
And for now on !
Regards,
Alex

Time to open incognitoJosh Armstrong wrote:I recommended that he change the checker problem part of the page to a more neutral name of my choosing instead of having it say "Mr. Checkerist," but apparently he did not like that idea and would prefer Mr. Checkerist get all the credit for my updates.![]()
Per Alan and Jason proposals and offer, I maintained problem session on webpage for some period of time. I am glad that due to my long delay and inactivity, Josh wants to take care of this and continue.
I picked nick "Checkerist" because I like it and it means something to me. I propose Josh to consider this title "Checkerist Corner" as a common name, not just mine only. And if someone else later replace Josh - this title will be there.
However, if Josh still wants to take more neutral and common name - I am OK and asking Jason to do this.
Josh, now when you know the secret - choice is yours
One of the option could be - we can keep "Checkersit Corner" session title but also display somewhere around editor name - yours. Would this work ?

Alex

Josh, I am OK with your plan and don't have any objections. It is up to Jason now - what and how to reconstruct.
I propose Jason to accept Josh proposals, once he commands and rules a ship !

I don't reply in 2 days and you consider that ignoring your PM's? Sheesh, I'd hate to think what you'd think of me if I went on vacation.Josh Armstrong wrote:You can PM me if there are any new champions. Unfortunately reporting tournament results do not work on the utility page, so I can not do it. I'd PM Jason, but it seems that he is ignoring my PMs now. I recommended that he change the checker problem part of the page to a more neutral name of my choosing instead of having it say "Mr. Checkerist," but apparently he did not like that idea and would prefer Mr. Checkerist get all the credit for my updates.![]()
But yea. I think ACF needs to be more proactive. People like to be recognized for their work and achievements. I mean what would be the point of being world champion if the roster of champions said the current world champion was Derek Oldbury. Same thing with ratings, people like to see improvement and rank. Sometimes you have to do the little things to keep an organization going. It's not just about going to tournaments, playing checkers, then going home. Work needs to be done behind the scenes.

Seriously though, I do truly appreciate your effort and willingness to help. I had no idea the reporting mechanism didn't work.
The other changes you requested are in.

John, do you know if there will be any pairing software at use during these tournaments? I would love to attempt to take the output file of that software and use that to upload the results.JohnAcker wrote:Josh, I'll have my laptop (and hopefully wi-fi access) at the IN and OH tournaments, so if you'll give me your email I can send you updates/results from those two.

Re: ACF webpage update
testing out more software LOL
from what my coder said... writing a program for pairings has to be the easiest thing in the world to code next to a calculator.
I don't understand what all the problem is with having it written and sent out to everyone who hosts tournaments. Last time I asked about it for district 9 tournament I was told OHHH Probably not we paid like 80 dollars for it!!!!!
Isn't that the point of it??? to be used for ACF tournaments????
It's ok though.... I'll have it written for me.... and it wont have ANY bugs and will work perfectly!!!
and I wont share it with ANYONE!!! haha im kidding. I'll have it posted up for download so everyone can use it.
<3
P.S. Josh.... stop screwing up before I box your ears boy.
