I am here for money, but ... there are no money here

John, you made me a day ! I am very glad to see that long time circulated ldea to run 3-moves ACF National tournament in the heart of country, Midwest, now becomes a reality. And I am also glad that this historical event will be named in honor of Richard Fortman, checkers milestone.

I remember when we played ACF 3-moves National in Toledo in 2000, Asa Long hometown, at closing ceremony his family members organised some sort of picnic for all players and guests, and family members served players with hamburgers, BBQ, soda, chips and all other traditional American food, cookies and deli. It was very lovely and I still remember this event.

Maybe we can do something similar in Springfield ?

Everyone should do his/her best to promote checkers. I think I find my niche - playing in as much events as I can and going across the country and globe. And trying to play well.

So ... there are no money here  But I still hope - maybe some day things change. This is another reason why I am still coming here. For instance this year I will play in Alabama tournament - maybe money are here ? And obviously I will go to Springfield ... you never know - maybe I find some money here ?

As a cautious optimist I am trying and trying !

I personally invite you, all my friends - lets all go to Springfield next year ! It's in our hands to make a day for ourselves. Life is hard and not so many exciting things happened in tough economy. But something is still under our control - we can all visit this tournament, reach a highest overturn and create something memorable which will be in our hearts to the rest of life !

Alex

Hi john ,

Sounds like a great idea naming the ty. after that great man .

Knowing the dates so far ahead in advance may give me the chance of getting over for my first US national !!

Hopefully i will see you all there

If so, I accept in advance (ha-ha) your independent challenge for 11-man ballot title. But ... we'll play it AFTER National  Stake - money from our personal pocket, each player put on table $500 or so ... unless we find better financing and support.

Just an "express-idea". Still needs to work in details.

I played 20 games with Elbert Lowder in 2002 and 16 games with Tim Laverty in 2008. Due to very compress schedule, I propose to stay with 16 games.

So far I like this idea very much ! Time machine  but now you are travelling oversea.

Yes, we already decided - it's not a big deal for two game lovers to get an agreement

We still need to work on details, but you can inform organisers that official 11-man ballot World Championship will be played betwen two life time romantics - Russian / American and Scottish / Franch.

John, you can also tell them that they have a privelegy to sponsor this match by giving a complimentary room for me ... at least for match days  William doesn't need any room at all because he is doing camping

Yes John ,

Just to back up what Alex said , you can count me in on this one . I will arrive the Wednesday of the week preceding the ty. and leave maybe on the monday , or Tuesday of the week preceding the ty.

please let me know of nearest airport ,and of course exact dates  so that I can arrange with work , flights , and soften up the wife a bit to this idea :? :?

It will be a case of 10 years after , and certainly will be a match not to be missed .

Mmmmm as far as the camping goes ... sure why not take a look at the prices for a one man tent , but with plaenty of washrooms , showers , canteens , and bars

I like your support for the match jay ... but hang on to the 50 , and throw in an extra case :P :P
