What do you like about checkers?: the complexity of the game with so few rules.

Just back from the nationals in Christchurch, where everybody had a great time. This was the final year of playing for Ralph Dixon and Ivan Narby, who had faithfully been playing for many many years in New Zealand, but had decided it was time to give it up for health reasons. The three-move match was hard fought with Jack VAnNiuwkirk,a seasoned player of many years taking the title.
John Guetta has yet to post the Gayp National, which we played just after the three - move.It too was hard fought, and on the second last day i was in the lead and only had to get two draws with Jack to win.Unfortunately i botched a red dyke game and lost the first game, which meant i had to win the second.Jack in his craftyiness tossed a three for three, in the game, (a red dyke again)and succoured a draw. Which meant he had gained the title again by a point, with me taking second place.
Its with great sadness to see Ralph and Ivan resign from checkers.Next year we intend to hold a national in Wellington, and hopefully get a greater attendance.

Well Done Jan,

You're in good company, in a recent Indy Car race your fellow
New Zealander Scott Dixon also came in second by a nose.

Congratulations to Jack, Ralph and yourself..."Pal"
