Tailgating in Cleveland

Post by Alan Millhone »

Hello Everyone:

I spent the day in Cleveland today (170 mile jaunt each way) . Before the game I was invited by Evergreen Uni to their tailgate party held below the stadium. Evergreen Uni has a custom made truck that the covering over the bed rises and exposes two plasma televisions and a satellite on the top of the covering. On the back is a huge gas grill that is used to prepare cuts of meat, sausages, hot dogs (football steaks as my Father used to call them) and coolers full of cold beverages. Off from the truck were two large tables full of all kinds of food,veggies, chili, cookies,etc.etc. and under the tables were coolers full of iced down drinks of every description. I was welcomed with open arms by my hosts today, who were;

Mr. Joseph A Lo Conti, Mr. Joseph E. Lo Conti, Esq. , and Mr. Daniel Clark these three men own Evergreen Uni (you can find on Google) and also own an interest in Thinkmedia studios who are making the Checker documentary and have traveled to South Africa, Barbados and to Canada so far to do filming and have invested thousands of dollars in this project. They hope to wrap up the filming by mid-Winter and then do the editing,etc. The film will be approximate 90 minutes in length and not over 2 hours. It will be shown in select movie theatres around America and then may be sold to HBO ,etc. These three men are great friends to Checkers and have financially supported our yearly Ohio Tournaments, one National held in Medina, recent Moiseyev-King Match and Joe A. made a pledge towards Medina for the GAYP Match between our own Dr. Beckiwth and Suki King.

My point ? Everything these businessmen are attempting to do we have others bickering on the forum to tear down the advances they are striving to accomplish. It has always been my goal as ACF President to promote youth and Women in our game and reach out to the World to bring in players from lands not reached in the past. To professionalize the game, standardize equipment ,clocks, recording of games,etc. To create an image all of us would be proud of if we individually were being filmed for a movie,etc.

Think about your actions before you come onto the ACF Forum with endless diatribes and attacks on each other. It serves the game no useful purpose. I only want what is best for Checkers/Draughts and our ACF.

Sincerely:
Alan Millhone, President
American Checker Federation
