All,
Mr. Gerry Lopez, the California super star and checkers gentleman, recently sent me a copy of the book John T. Denvir's Traps and Shots which contains several hundred (!) of the best traps and shots ever played (or so it seems to me).
Many of you may already be familiar with this classic work; if not, you really should get a copy. The beauty, intricacy and complexity of the combinations just leaves me kind of open-mouthed with astonishment and admiration. You have to see them to believe them in many cases. Denvir makes some pretty humorous comments as well from time to time.
Demonstrating a few of the shots that Denvier collected (many of which he "discovered"), would make even a non-player appreciate the game.
It doesn't get any better than that.
