Louis Van Deven

Post by Jay H »

Greetings all,
I just received the latest ACF Bulletin and saw an obituary for Louis Van Deven....terribly saddening news to read that he passed.
The last I heard of Van Deven, was from ACF President Alan Millhone's post on the forum in Jan, where he wrote that he spoke with Louis, and that his health was not good......
Does anyone have any details concerning his passing ?
IMHO,Louis Van Deven can be counted with the top handful of the games great patrons during his days of active participation, .....from player to promoter to publisher.

I'll have one forya Van :!: :!:

RIP brother

Hi Jay,

Very sorry to hear that news.
Louis Van Deven was one of the great patron's of the game. His 6th District Newsletter and Midwest Checkers magazines will long be remembered. May he rest in peace.

I was also saddened to hear this news from ACF bulletin. Louis ran the Illinois State tournament every year back when I started playing in tournaments. In those days, the tournaments were held in Alton by Mississippi River. He stopped entering tournaments around early 1990s over health concerns.
