Player List

A unified list of players with unique identifiers is need to keep track of pretty much anything to a consistent level. Previously all tournaments results were reported with a free format player name. There was no distinguishment of first name or last name.
I've gone through the tournaments reported from 2004-2007 and attempted to consolidate the player names and correct ones I knew were wrong. Some mistakes were probably made.

Current Features:
A consolidated list of players with unique id

Future Features:
Create a profile for each player which links to their rating,tournaments,titles,games,etc.
Tie the player in with the forum profile
Extend profile to include other useful information (online gaming aliases, etc)
Share list with Eric and others to create a unified list of players to keep track of ratings and more.

Nice to Have:
Perhaps tie into custom gaming site
Player history? Keep track of states that players have lived in in the past? Not sure if this is useful other than if they held a different state title at some point.

TODO:
Add in additional players from 2003 tournaments and missing tournaments from 2007-2009
Add Location information (many players already have this information, I just have to parse it up)
Make editable form to allow others to help fill in the information

Hi Jason,

Looks like you have me listed twice with one name (the second name) having a (n) added in the last name which is incorrect. Often happens that people misspell my last name as Buckner (no n in it). I could be wrong but I don't think there is another player by the name of Ed Buckner.

Thanks Pal, I'll make the adjustment.
I'm sure there are a few more like that. The Buckner name was listed as a home state of IL (from the 2007 Illinois 101 Open) which is why I left him on there.

If i get time tonight, I'll compile a list of all "suspect" players that I came across which may have similar situations.

Good catch Josh.
I had meant to do something with those and I never really made a decision, so I opted for the lazy "alias" method. I like your suggestion of keeping a standardized list of suffixes or prefixes. It seems like a simple solution but I often overthink things like that.

I haven't had much time this week to do anything, sorry I still haven't cleaned up your other name Pal.

i have a similar one for ratings
with states or country of players
if they have passed on
if they are active or inactive tournament player
rating

The list I have now is composed of all the players from the tournament results recorded on the ACF website (2004-2007). Since everything is basically free format text I wanted to try and clean things up so we didn't have the situations that Irma found.
Basically I wanted a discrete list of players that could be used for anything. Player profiles could be built off of them allowing people to upload images, games, etc. and to show the tournaments they've participated in.
