ACF 2010 dues PLEASE READ

Post by kim willis »

Today I worked on the ACF Roster and I updated for the printer so we all would get our bulletins. But I am going to tell you all if you have not paid for this years dues you are cancelled. If you are due after March you will have till next bulletin to renew. Alan has sent and resent bulletins he has gotten back and that is costly. So it is time to stop dragging our tails. (No Dues No Bulletin). And if you do pay and want back bulletins you have missed there will be a charge.

Hello Kim:

Good post, thanks. The easiest way to keep your dues paid is to consider becoming a Life ACF Member. This way your dues will always be current and you are also supporting your ACF and the game of Checkers we all love.

Life Membership is $500.00 and can be paid over two yearly installments of $250.00 .

Sincerely:
Alan Millhone, President

Hello John:

Since you recently paid your dues and to encourage you to be a Life Member , I see no problem in crediting your dues towards your life membership :-)

Yes, a necessary evil in life.
What is evil - goodwill or money ?

Josh, the ACF has people who are very educated that can look over ACF financial statements and see where money can be saved. Since the ACF does not have the typical overhead costs such as buildings, land, and paid employees, it is difficult to cut costs!

Your argument on "Goodwill" is based on philosophy. Personally, because of the philosophy I prescribe to, I do things for people I don’t know all the time and without conditions or even the thought of getting something in return.

There is something to be said about the proposal of electronic bulletins. If done right, although a tremendous labor effort would be involved(and we all know that labor is volunteers-not paid employees) the ACF could boost their membership while at the same time decreasing some of it's expenses.

I also am fond the database idea could be accessible to people so that they can change only their addresses and e-mails should they need to.

Hello Josh:

E-Bulletins would be great if all ACF Members had a computer and internet. This is not the case. Also many want a 'hard copy' of the bulletin.

The 6 bulletins per year consume ACF dues by year's end. Also if we swithced over to an e bulletin, many members would want dues reduced, so in turn the ACF would not make any more money.

Solutions on the surface sound easy, but to implement them at times is not all that easy.

The ACF needs members and lots of them. A tuff sell in today's world.

Josh, your input is appreciated and maybe one day you will run for an ACF office and work hard to solve all problems :-)

Money or goodwill could be necessary evil, but Internet is unneccessary evil !

Even though I have computer and take an advantage from all 21st century technology beauties, I personally don't care electronic version and never read or print it. I am completely satisfy with paper version of Bulletin which i receive in mail every two months and don't want to change anything here.

Working with paper document require more attention and accuracy. Also it's very enjoyable process - to open a new and fresh paper-Bulletin with typography smell.

No, I don't - thats true. In other hands, If necessary - I can pay $30-$35 (instead $25) annual ACF membership for hard copy - don't have problems and proposed to do this (increase membership fee) to ACF long time ago.
