ACF clocks
Hello Everyone:
If you come to a National tournament you may have noticed I carry an aluminum suitcase that hold the clocks the ACF uses at our Nationals.
Did you ever wonder how the ACF got those clocks ?
Several years ago at the Plaza Hotel in Vegas a player one evening had me come to his room. When we had chatted and I was leaving his room he stuck something in my pocket. When I looked I discovered a check made to myself. He told me to use it for anything I wanted for myself.
I used the money to purchase clocks for the ACF that I carry now in the aluminum suitcase I purchased.
Now the ACF has a problem. Many of the clocks due to use, etc. are not working the best and need replaced. We will need our clocks in Springfield later this year. Member dues are absorbed by the bulletin issues and little left every year for anything else, like the purchase of new clocks.
If anyone reading my post would like to donate a clock to the ACF let any Exec. Officer know or let me know that you will bring one with you to the Nationals. I am not begging, just stating that we need a new supply of manual clocks.
The majority of the ACF Members want a 'hard copy' of the bulletin. Very few have ever indicated they want an e bulletin instead.
Sincerely:
Alan Millhone, President

Re: ACF clocks
Hello John:
Your detailed thoughts and 'links' appreciated. The ACF uses clocks (up till now) ........... for the Master's only . A dozen clocks will suffice to update the ACF's clock inventory.
John, I agree it would be nice to enhance and professionalize our game if everyone used clocks and recorded and turned in their played games. Numbered boards could be used in Majors and Minors.
Everyone using good playing boards and pieces is a plus as well

Hello Everyone:
In my wildest dreams did I ever imagine the aluminum suitcase would generate so much discussion
I took it to Vegas for two Natioanls and a World Qualifier and the International Match . It is great for protecting the ACF's clocks while traveling by airplane. The inside is padded and yes you could do step aerobics off the strudy aluminum reinforced case !

Hola Irma:
No questions are 'stupid'
I admire you for learning English------ My Spanish is nil and I apologize for that.
Some things 'change' in translation, etc. Never be afraid to ask anything you are unsure of or want more information.
We are a diverse group and all love the game of Checkers/Draughts. That is the important thing to keep in perspective.
