Looking for DEO Encyclopedia.

Post by Alex_Moiseyev »

One my Russian friend Michael Shabshai, who recently resides in Israel and also played very well in Beijing, asked me how he can obtain DEO Encyclopedia. Not necessary original, copy would work for him.

Any help / advice are welcome and appreciated.

Sincerely,

AM

No mistake Tommy, except for the poor mug handing over all that dosh !

I have two old periodicals, the Leeds Weekly Draught Player and the Draught Players’ Weekly Magazine bound into one hard backed book. I wonder what that might be worth ? :)

Of the former, W G Parker wrote:
The writing and tabular work deserves the often mis-used term “copper-plate”, and to look through the book today is to realise that penmanship is indeed one of the lost arts. It is recorded that the Book of Kells, perhaps the finest illuminated manuscript in the Irish style extant, that the intricate interlacings of the characteristic Celtic ornamentation have been drawn without error for page after page. In much the same way, few blemishes mar the good work of the lesser craftsmen of Leeds. In Trinity College, Dublin, if you are privileged to handle the Book of Kells, you are first given clean white gloves to don … and the Leeds Weekly Draught Player deserves to be treated with almost equal care.
New Draughts World, Vol 1, No 10, August 1937.

P S - I, usually, use surgical gloves when looking at the contents of my Draughts Books.

DEO Encyclopedia has 6 volumes and today it's a big raritet. If this price $150 is for all 6 of them (I don't think so) - take it immediately, this is very good, fantastically cheap deal.

It is more likely that $150 is just a price for one volume only - not surprise me at all !
