BRITISH OPEN INVERNESS SCOTLAND

Post by tommyc »

Well its that time again to cross swords on the big stage ,some might use this a stepping stone to shake off the rust in anticipation of the upcoming Irish Open and World Qualifier in Dublin this October, others may look on it as the big prize.Whichever way they see it we are sending from the North West Draughts Federation several players, two warriors in particular whom we are expecting alot of are Myles Hannigan and Shane Mc Cusker,we wish them all well and hope they aquit themselves well in the British Open which starts on monday in Scotland.!!!.Sorry i cant be there due to prior committments but good luck to all.

Watch this space for updates on the British Open from Monday.

Thanks Tommy. I will look forward to reading the updates on the British Open. I was hoping to attend, for the sake of making up the numbers, self raffle tickets and help serve the teas etc, but could not make it :( Good luck to Myles and Shane. Two fine players.

My only hope is that Lindus makes it to the Irish Open and the World qualifier as he is a fine candidate for it,and Wales should be proud to have him represent them. He has not lost a game in the last 147 competative games. He has just won the British Open Mail Championship, beating Nigel Profit,He also won the English Open last year, and the Welsh Open.

Well not a big surprise !!!

Shane has wrapped up the British only after 4 rounds !! The only players
strong enough to be able to threaten him to be honest are Tom Watson , and myles , and well Shane has pushed myles out of the way. Shane really deserves this victory , and is my bet for the 3 move world qualifier . He has , put in a tremendous amount of effort into his game and it is and will continue to pay off . Unfortunately the number of people who are capable of appreciating a good move , or a good game are very few and far between . The scrubs really must appreciate the value of a top players game , and must realise that to get there , one has put in at least 3 to 4 hours serious practice per day every day . Once again congrats to shane on his Victory , in the British , and I'll even put my kneck on the line today and say that he will be Mosyevs next challenger , the most dangerous since 20 years

Billy your jumping the gun............to quote Hannigans old saying.........."theres manys a slip between the cup and the lip""hehehe.......or "its not over till the fat lady sings" is another that comes to mind.I dunno if they have any fat ladies in Inverness?? But i agree Shane ,Myles and Tom are the 3 most likely to triumph .........i think i said on here before "there are many who play in the Masters but there are only a few MASTERS.Gimme a ring anytime.

William, I am playing Anglo-American Draughts only 15 years. But it would be a true to say - "most danger for the next 20 years"

Since I've got title, I was always dreaming to play match with someone with encyclopedical knowledges of PP - McCarthy, Pask, Hallett and now we have a nice addition to this line - S. McCosker !

I wish Shane good luck in British Open 2010 and upcoming WCDF QT.

In WCDF QT indeed, as patriot in good standing  I am backing Americans: Beckwith, Morrison, J. Webster (?) and whoever else will be there. I wish Larry Keen and/or Michael Holmes can make it.

Regards,

Alex

Well joking aside to be honest Billy .......Shane has been concentrating on getting his degree in computer programming this past 2 years or so and hasnt really done much work on the draughts side of things,he will need to work hard before the Qualifiers in Oct to make up lost ground as im sure he will.
