Zambian player looking for on-line opponent

Post by rich beckwith »

I have been corresponding with Sacks Mwaaza of Zambia. He gave me permission to post info for him. Anyone interested in contacting him to play on-line? I have no idea who he plays locally, or how he would fare in a face-to-face tournament. -- Richard

I am a Zambian checkers champion desiring to participate in the coming tournament. Its a pit that in my country ( Zambia) we do not have an association for checkers...If you can be free to meet me for some friendly checkers games on vogclub,i can be a happy man.

Currently,i am a guest member on vogclub and i haven't yet payed for premiership but i will one day.I play different varitions in checkers, but i am the best at Russian 64,pool,international 10x10 and straight checkers you play in America. If you won't manage, you can find me the person you think is the best in these itemised checkers variations. We can arrange the day and time i meet him.

Tell all those interested in meeting me on-line that i am a checkers hidden champion from Zambia intending to destroy all those claiming to be champions or grandmasters.Honestly,it pains me when i come across people people calling themselves world champions on the internet when i am part of this world.

Mwaaza Sakala.

Well, playing with National Minor Champ is a good test of skills and abilities. I am unaware of strong checkers movement in Zambia, including 10x10, but overall African players are doing quite well and picking any form of game quick enough.

it will be very interesting to see his bottle with Nick. Personally I always backing American players in any kind of brain business and this case is not exception

Nick, I recommend you you to play with Mwaaza mix games: both GAYP and 3-moves and see outcome.
I am playing checkers, not chess.

nickaddante wrote:I e-mailed the Zambian guy,

we are going to play on Sunday 12:00 noon PM Chicago Time 8/15/2010 at kurnik. He registered an account called "sacks".

I'd say before I thought this guy was random, but Alan told me a story about this guy in the barbados GAYP match who called himself "socks" who was a dang good player. Could be interesting. Either way, I'll beat him :]
All Right !!!
Super cool Nick....
With this challenge being made, and the challenge being accepted, this is a PERFECT opportunity to show any and all concerned parties that Internet/online games and/or matches can generate some interest.
I am calling on ALL within sight of these words to show up and watch this meeting on Sunday...show the ACF council, kurnik players, fellow ACF Forumites, et al., that events such as these can be arranged, and more importantly, promoted in the future...!
And Nick....I'll be rooting for you also !!!!

I was disappointed to learn that the games between Nick and the African gentleman were not going to take place as originally scheduled as I was looking forward to watching some great games. I often drop in to watch the fine games at Kurnik and am in awe of the talent there. Most of the youngsters make moves I could only dream of making. After playing there a short time it soon became apparent that there existed a plethora of six and seven-year-old kids who were vastly superior to my standard. I still drop in to watch from time to time as I learn a great deal from these youngsters. Hopefully the games in question can still be played as I will enjoy watching and learning.
