"Embossing Co. Preferred Wood Checker Set"-answer
This checker sets unique quality made it preferred by many players of yesteryear and of today. "Checker Trivia of the Day". What was this checker called and what was its unique quality? Hint: Think caveman. (Cont.)

Looks to me as if actor Walter Pidgeon was one
of the many players that preferred these checkers.

They are my favorite checker and the same as my grandpa played with.
I have more than a dozen sets of these old checkers, many sets in their original box.

These uniquely thick checkers are called CLUB CHECKERS my favorite CULB CHECKERS are the No. 813 which were made by The Embossing Company of Albany New York, others that were also made by The Embossing Company are the Maple Leaf Club Checkers, and the thickest ones came in boxes just marked with the name CLUB CHECKERS.
