Re: 2010 Northern Ireland Open - Crosstable
Thanks for posting these crosstables... Would you post a picture of the winners and what happen between Francis McNally and Myles Hannigan in their 12 game match, each player putting up a stake of £1000 – winner takes all? Love to have pictures of both and results. This match ran concurrently with NI Open. Thanks in advance, Later JR

This seemed to have escaped my vision at the time JR sorry abt that...............Myles Hannigan won the contest over Francie McNally (on a 3-1 score/) and scooped the £2000 prize.Mc Nally then got a challenge from John McElhone and that match is ongoing as far as i know.Im not sure if yuve got a picture of the match? i know ive seen on somewhere.

Hi Tommy.
I am confused.
you said Hannigan-McNally played 3-1, but your very nice blog http://ulstercheckers.blogspot.com/ says it was 7-7-2, which sums up to 16 games.
On the other hand, there are 14 games in your blog, and the score of the games given (are these all games?) is Hannigan 4 McNally 2, drawn 8, which can not be 3-1 or 7-7-2.
Scratch my head,
Ingo

Yes on reflection the score was 4-2 to Hannigan, the games shown in (McElhones site) Ulster Blog says.

Re: 2010 Northern Ireland Open - Crosstable
The score was Hannigan 5 - Mc Nally 2 and 7 draws.
The Blog games record is correct showing:
Wins for Hannigan in Games 1, 9, 11, 13, and 14.
Wins for McNally in Games 4 and 10.
Draws in Games 2, 3, 5, 6, 7 , 8, and 12.
The match was scheduled for 16 games, but after 14 games Hannigan was 3 up with two to play. In golf parlance he won "3 and 2".
Did any of you guys see Graeme McDowell winning 2 and 1 in the Ryder Cup ?

Re: 2010 Northern Ireland Open - Crosstable
Thx Thommy, thx Liam,
I was mistaken in my own account of the games on John McElhone's fine website.
Liam got it right:
Hannigan 5, McNally 2, drawn 7 seems to be right.
Or, if you count a win as a point and a draw as half a point, 8,5-5,5 to Hannigan.
If you count 2 points a win and 1 point a draw it would be 17-11.
I dont't think that unplayed games should count in any, except they had been forfeited.
BTW:
Which scoring do you prefer:
a) 8,5-5,5 (chess)
b) 17-11 (draughts 100)
c) 5-2-7 (winner-loser-draws)
d) 5-7-2 (winner-draws-loser)
e) 7-5-2 (draws-winner-loser)
f) Hannigan won 3 points ahead with two games to go(golf)
I guess 4-1 is not correct, and 7-7-2 is just correct, if you would count the unplayed two games as forfeited, and could also be interpreted by a nerd like me as a drawn game.
Are you confused?
they you have to acquit me.

Re: 2010 Northern Ireland Open - Crosstable
Ingo...........I think i prefer old dull non exciting straight, simple, self explanitory, any one can understand it score.............5-2 OK !!best of 16 but only 14 played b/cHannigan was 3games ahead with only a poss 2games to be won so................Agree...........if other 2 unplayed games are forfeits ,one forfeit each say, then its still 5-2 but now its 5-2 and 7drs and 2 forfeits(1-1)?? Which means the final score in any mans language is 5-2 .....Agree..........
