Of course nothing wrong with doing this ! Ron did absolutely right thing inviting someone to walk with him to his room. This is the way it suppose to be done. I just showed a simple example how situation can be easy handled professionally to satisfy everyone and avoid conflict.
And if in Dublin Toyeva didn't know this - referee assistand should know this and help her do not fail.
It's easy to get into conflict, but it is also easy to avoid it - everyone should do their job best.
WCDF and organisers suppose to train referee and referee assitant and they should read rules BEFORE event started, not AFTER incident happened.
So Alex...................we are back to my previous idea "Supervision of Major Tournaments" which yu cast of with some sarcastic (black russian humor?) remarks. Now yu spaek with forked tongue and pretend to want to find out some magic solution, you would need to be more consistent and make up yur mind!!!!!!!!!WHICH IS IT??

Tommy, I am talking about rules, you are talking about law enforcement officers ... thats quite a difference We both try to fix the problem and improve things but from different prospective.
I am also against idea that players can't walk around and see positions on other boards. Very stupid limitation.
Jan, it is stupid because it doesn't make any sense in my eyes and doesn't benefit anything. Just limitation for limitation only.
If you explain me how this can make things better, avoid and prevent something, then I would agree with you.
Again, we can restrict alot of things, but will this improve overall situation ? Incident in game Toyeva vs Kim happened - due to inaccurate rule and lack of communications. What incident can be avoided by prohibiting players walking in playing area ?
Its not the only reason why people shouldnt hover over boards. Its the distraction factor. If youve got an opponent standing up and hovering over the game that puts you on an unequal footing, and also very distracting for the other player whose turn it is to move.If one can do it,why not let everyone get up and wander around willy nilly, looking at different slants on boards! What kind of a match would that be?
In fact copying moves didnt even cross my mind, its more the distraction factor. If one can stand up and look down at the game, then maybe they can also move around to the opponents side and look from that perspective.Sounds a bit crazy to me,and i feel the rule is correct how its stated.
You are silly Alex...........must be yur Russian upbringing.Of course im not talking abt Law enforcement officers ,im talking RULE ENFORCEMENT at Major Tys.......!!

However Alex i do agree with yu on the "not being able to move " rule.............. the WCDF still havent looked that the health n safety aspect of pple sitting in the same position over a long period;why not just tie us down.............of course its the poor bidder for the Ty that has to enforce this terrible rule not the WCDF....oh no they dont have to get their hands dirtied at all??............AM I MISSING SOMETHING HERE?

I think we must be talking about two different things Tommy, altho there is a break between games, and rules allow for extra breaks with permission from the referree. Its the distraction factor of standing up and looking over the board yu are playing that im talking about.
JAN i dont see anybody behind me when im "in the zone" im in another place most of the time, we do have a ruling tho somewhat loose in the NWDF that in a situ usually when the last set have overrun and ev1 else is done...........we dont allow 10-12 plle looking over shoulders but we do allow on-looking from a reasonable distance/.Im not against pple taking the odd walk around(this is a silly rule)to stretch the legs.

Tommy, I don't have much problems with legs, i have problems with back and spin. Sitting 3-4 hours makes it very painful. Why should we bring some peple down due to their health conditions, in favor of other ?
Not a good thing to take advantage from people health.

As I said before, there has been one incident in the IO and QT, and that has been ruled.
And though I would make a different rule, the verdict should stand.
The rules are new (established 2008) and yet there have been discussions about it,
it is up to the referees to apply these rules in tournaments.
Igor's report has other, much more important points, like the idea to change the WC "cycle" and his, in my eyes very bad idea ro stop playing GAYP at all.

Alex i so sorry to hear of yur back complaint sitting a long time would be very bad for that as it does to my legs.In fact as yu know im not fat or anything and i can actually help my legs by stacking mb 3 chairs on top of each other so i can swing my legs after some time so as i dont stiffen up.im glad my opponents dont complain but i cant see that being any good to yur poor back[[[[[[[[stacking chairs].
I did put a proposal to a meeting one time abt health and safety in the games .I think it was after the Scottish Open a few yrs ago, poor Jimmy Grant could hardly move after sitting so long in one game?I guess its ok for these young guns like Danny and such, prob the worst he has to put up with is the visit of the "outlaws" who are coming soon...............anyway id advise you Alex to look up a good physcio if yu want to remain World champion id recommend my boy but hes too far away from Ohio.
