Merry X-Mas !

To all and everyone !

Have a good New Year, be wealthy and healthy, have piece in your house and heart.

Here is a list of best acomplishments in checkers in 2010 in my eyes.

1) Michele Borghetti (Italy) graciously won 3-moves QT and earned 2000 EURO and rights to play world title match.

2) Ron King retained his title of the GAYP World Champion by winning narrowly Match against Richard Beckwith (USA). Ron King also finished 1st in Irish Open and 2nd in QT and USA Open.

3) Richard Beckwith won one GAYP game against Ron King and this was his (Suki) first lost in GAYP game since 2004 ! And of course Richard was very busy and booked this year with many other activities. Fantastc hardworker. I wish I have a miserable dozen of his energy and enthusiasm !

4) Kim Wills started checkers classes in school ! WOW. Lets thanks her and wish her good luck in her journey. Way to go, madam !

5) I was lucky to win 3-moves USA Open. Also this year achieved GMI norm in Composition CPI FMJD (finished 2nd in ending World Contest and won several International contests)

6) John Acker also was very active this year: organised wonderful USA NAtional in Springfield, ran website and of course - participated in re-printing classic "Basic Checkers" by R. Fortman. John - many thanks for your service.

7) Shane McCosker finished 3rd in QT without losing any single game ! And I suspect he didn't lose any game in the past 2 years (am I wrong with my assumption ?). In the past several years he was always extremely close to money, but ... no cigars !

6) Joseph LaConti and his company sponsored again world title match and other checkers events this year. This is 3rd time in the row (and maybe not last) when World Title Match was secured and plyed in Medina. Many thanks to Joe for his help and support !

7) Jim Loy wrote several books.

8) John Webster was the only one who scored win on me this year in TN - out of 150 games which I played in total.

9) Michael Holmes married which I beleive is certainly good news for checkers !

10) I also would like to thanks personally JR for his tremendous efforts and service. No significant accomplishments, but every day he does his job which needs to be done. Without his website our life would be much more boring and we miss alot of things. Thanks again !

Thank you Eric Strange and Vadim Khavinson with your website which will help many checkers players to improve their ability in playing the game.... I might be over reaching a little bit here.... but I feel this website is something that many players love to have??? I am not trying to toot my own horn here. I believe many of the gayp games I have beat you on are covered here Alex... u might want to look up a few :)

in loving regards

Merry X-Mas to Vadim, you and your website Eric ! I hope you and website improve next year (Vadim is perfect anyway) Did you add here my games from VOG ? I didn't find any and there were about 400 or 500 in archive.

I also wish you re-activate ACF ratings next year and people start using them. Remember - I was the one who asked Alan Millhone to appoint you to ACF Rating Processor position, and I don't want to be a loser in this business. Tell Vadim: "Alex is in trouble with his image, because he trust me too much. Lets improve his image !"

For Vadim:

Vadim, S Novim Godom tebya ! Spasibo za website, ochen xoroshee i nuzjnoye delo dlya checkers.

Vad is working on ratings and I think Shane Mcosker may be joining the group as well. You crack me up Chee. Congrats on getting registered in the ACF forum!

Chee Xiong wrote:Also, Fredo has requested that next time you play him in kurnik during a private table non-public practice session that I as his trainer have to be present at all times.
Chee,

Merry X-Mas to you and your family !

I can't recall that Fredo requested anything from me. But if so - I am sorry to hear that he doesn't want to play games with me which is actually very beneficiary for both of us.

If you are Fredo trainer in good standing and faith, you must support our games and sessions because it helps Fredo to improve. Training process usually happened before or after game, not during the game.

Alex, I believe that your assumption on Shane not losing a game is inaccurate. Liam Stephens beat Shane in Stonehaven during the "Scottish" in 2009.

Merry Xmas Alex !!! Merry xmas everyone !!!!

I think counting our blessings/achievements always helps to bring perspective. I was feeling down last week and i started counting everything i have done this year and that made everything look better.

i hope everyone has a fantastic festive season.

Cheers from Sunny Queensland where literally the world is melting because of the heat. 40 degrees predicted for today + rainstorms hahaha although at the moment there isnt a cloud in sight.

Thanks, Chee and Danny ! Lets hope next year will better and easy for all of us.

This year was a bit productive for me and along with some Anglo-American Checkers accomplishments (National ec) I also achieved FMJD International Grandmaster norm in Composition. Here are two positions - problem and ending which I would like to share with you. In both positions white to move and win.
