Thanks, Billy !

On another note I should say - if you give me any single good serious good why I should not have a trash talk on this forum - I will change my attitude. Most things posted here are so funny and makes me laughing, I can't speak seriously here.

Concerning our game ... If you read Sixth you must be noted that there are some Murphy laws which perfectly apply to checkers game. And one of them says: "From two winning moves one is always draw !" Thats why some of your moves made me feel badly  because I remember Murphy law.

About Adam ... he takes everything too seriously  He should start playing in real ty's - it will be very beneficiary for himself and for checkers. He has all skills and is very potential.

I don't have to do anything except pay taxes. Other people can set a good example. I have my family, job and many other obligations in real life, checkers is only phantom, virtual world for me where I escape from real life.

Don't think and don't take this forum too seriously.

In addition - I don't see to many opponents with whom I can talk seriously here about serious things.

Young players from my posts can learn that there is nothing on this forum they should take seriously. I think this is a good example.

Alex

I gave you 6 reasons, not just one. But i will give you a seventh.

At the end of the day checkers is still alive because of the 'nobodys' (as i have been called) like me. The people that do things for the game not for a trophy or to become a grandmaster. We need a million more nobodys b4 this game can come back to its former glories. And we need sponsors etc etc etc... If we have our 'best' player act like everybody else, saying and doing whatever he will this game will remain what it is today. In order for progress to occur we need CHANGE... are we too blind to see this? Same behaviour produces the same results. We need change.
BTW, Claiming that whatever you say here isn't serious is a cop-out.

Don't listen to them Alex. The champ can say whatever he wants.
Yea im nobody thats why i've played Alex M online and have given him all he could handle, stop licking up Alex's :!:. I respect him i just don't like the attitude, and sometimes its not always joking either. Just because someone is good at something doesn't mean they need to act cocky.

And plus he studies and has played this game for 30+ years, the only time i play is at night. I do alot of other stuff.

Im 21 and have played for about 7 years on and off and i've reached very high level naturally no studying, guys like Jolt, Fredo, are also great players at 3 move just playing naturally.

All im saying is there is loads of great player's, you don't see them being cocky. I don't think Marion Tinsley was arrogant either and he is by far the best player of all time.

I think im a good player and i've learned well without no studying, but can i be beaten ? hell yes but i expect it playing against top players, but i think i can give any player a run for there money on any given day.

Being humble isn't for loser's, and thats a bad way to think.

What do you like about checkers?: In checkers you have to deal with every threat with defense or attacking that man. You can't run away. Face your enemy and never back down. Amen. With a dry cool wit like that I could be an action hero. I am also into tattoos, arm wrestling, beer, the universe/telescopes and the NHL. GO BRUINS!! I started playing checkers at the age of 31. I have a lot of catching up to do.

I never said you HAVE TO do anything..... i said "you should" .... it is not merely a semantical difference.
And we all have family, job and other commitments , thats no excuse in my opinion, you either mean what you say or you don't. I am not hiding behind sophistry and fallacies. and for the record what i said i had said it calmly and with the best intentions possible. It is dissapointing to see you take the mickey out of everything and everyone and then hide behind saying you dont mean it.

Keep doing what you will, make fun of the nobodys .... you want to be the world champion of 10 people? is that the point?

Greetings Alex:

Today, on the date of Sunday, July 6th, you wrote the following:
Alex_Moiseyev wrote:Dear Danny,

In your statement above, you appear to be saying that Danny should remain on topic in this discussion.

However, you also wrote the following statement today, on the date of Sunday, July 6th:
Alex_Moiseyev wrote: On another note I should say - if you give me any single good serious good why I should not have a trash talk on this forum - I will change my attitude.
Perhaps, I am confused.

After lecturing Danny on the issue of remaining on topic, then shouldn't you adhere to the same standard of conduct you are advocating, by refraining from the off topic "trash talk" you are trying to rationalize and justify from your end?

Does the World Champion consider himself entitled to a different standard of posting behavior and etiquette from the "babies" he described in his following post?
Alex_Moiseyev wrote: Concerning my participation in Blitz ... still thinking. It will be a cheap victory indeed, because noone plays Blitz better then I do or even close. All babies around.
Please explain.

Thanks in advance.

Offline players (from real ty's) do not have good experience with fast play, online players (from Internet) dp not have any experience with real clocks.

There are exceptions indeed in both camps, but tendency is obvious. Thats why I am glad to see this event happened - it will help to imporve everyone.

The blitz tournament is really intriguing to me. I'm generally not a fan of GAYP because I feel like I just keep playing the same game every round, so I wasn't planning on attending the national tournament. But a short 1 day event where I would only need to use a day of vacation time instead of a week might pique my interest enough to attend the blitz tournament.

An interesting philosophy, Mr. Bauer.

I met a traveler from an antique land
Who said: Two vast and trunkless legs of stone
Stand in the desert. Near them, on the sand,
Half sunk, a shattered visage lies, whose frown,
And wrinkled lip, and sneer of cold command,
Tell that its sculptor well those passions read
Which yet survive, stamped on these lifeless things,
The hand that mocked them and the heart that fed;
And on the pedestal these words appear:
"My name is Ozymandias, king of kings:
Look on my works, ye Mighty, and despair!"
Nothing beside remains. Round the decay
Of that colossal wreck, boundless and bare
The lone and level sands stretch far away.

Percy Bysshe Shelley
Ozymandias

Kings of Egypt and kings of checkers, and even us poor losers and nobodies, all end up the same, no matter how proud or humble. The road only runs one way.

By the way, Ozymandias, as I'm sure you know, was Ramses II.

Very Respectfully,
A nobody and damn proud of it,

AN ANCIENT DRAUGHTS PLAYER

The “finds” of Egypt have often a special as well as a wide-world significance. The special historic interest as far as this column is concerned must give the palm to the extinct and embalmed Pharaoh, Rameses III of the twentieth Egyptian dynasty, who is supposed to have lived and enjoyed life some 1200 years before the Christian era, and who was disinterred at the village of Bulak, a well known suburb of Cairo, in the presence of the Khedive and his Ministers, the Turkish Prime Minister (Mukhtar Pacha), Sir Henry Drummond Wolff, and other notables. The occasion must have been to the Khedive one of unusual importance, as the circumstance would at once confront him with an historic ancester of 3000 years ago. Our reflections can hardly take from here, or we might picture to ourselves the political and social conditions of Egypt during his dynasty, as it is affirmed with a considerable show of reason that he was a near descendant, possibly a son, of the celebrated Pharoah of holy writ.
The art of embalming, which the Egyptians knew so well how to give effect to, has preserved this human frame in his sarcophagus safely for 3000 years, and with its unearthing the story of national events and details of his life, written on imperishable tablets of stone, has been brought to view.
The chamber of death has been carefully laid bare by competent hands, and we see his deeds recorded on the walls; his enemies trampled under his feet; shooting others with arrows in the fiercest of the battles; dragging his fallen foes after his conquering chariot; and caressed, perfumed, and fanned by his attendant females. Then in another sculpture we see him enjoying his spare time in playing draughts with a favourite. What game he is playing will ever remain a conundrum, as no record of any of Rameses problems has come down to us. We fancy, however that Wyllie or Martins , Smith or Jackson, Gardener or Strickland would make short work of him. We shall not attempt to find out what games were in vogue at that ancient time, but we are not without hope that something may yet be discovered to throw a ray of light upon the method then in fashion. Egypt is the cradle of much that has baffled the wisest of moderns, and we may, afterthis, safely conclude that the game of draughts was played in the land of the Nile when the Western Nations had not emerged out of Barbarism.

A dissertation from the Manchester Weekly Post.

Dear Alex: Whether you accept it or not, every world champion is a role model for others, especially the young ones. This is an irrefutable truth. My initial point tried to express this... maybe not as clearly as i wished. Whether you like it or not the champion always must set a good example for others. Or do you agree with Phil’s statement?

You believe you are entitled to do and say whatever you wish? and we should 'Amen' in return like Mr. Bauer ? I respectfully disagree. I also fail to see how I am lucky the best player posts here if he never means what he says.
