Phil, your kidding, I hope (lol). I could give you my opinion of Mr. Alex's advise, but that would be worth precisely two cents! (I'm talking about my two penny opinion, as Mr. Alex's advice is priceless!) Actually, Mr. Alex reminds me of the great big band leader Artie Shaw. If you read or listen to Artie Shaw interviews on the Internet, you will know what I mean! --George Hay

What do you like about checkers?: In checkers you have to deal with every threat with defense or attacking that man. You can't run away. Face your enemy and never back down. Amen. With a dry cool wit like that I could be an action hero. I am also into tattoos, arm wrestling, beer, the universe/telescopes and the NHL. GO BRUINS!! I started playing checkers at the age of 31. I have a lot of catching up to do.

Phil, Artie Shaw (1910-2004) was a clarinet player, band leader, and composer who was a major player in the big band era of 1935-1947. My reaction to first hearing Artie Shaw was "Benny Goodman has some competition!" Artie Shaw walked away from the music business in 1954 having done all he wanted to do as a clarinet virtuoso. He had many interests and was never shy about expressing his opinion....He was married many times including to the actress Ava Gardner from 1945 to 1946. Artie Shaw taught Ava Gardner how to play chess. But once Ava Gardner beat Shaw at chess, he never played her again! --George Hay

Now I know where I heard the name...the movie "Swing Kids" was about kids wanting to dance in Germany during WWII... to the music of great musicians...some being Jewish. I think both were Jewish?

Benny Goodman and Artie Shaw were both Jewish American musicians. They both broke the race barrier in music, taking the attitude of hiring and working with the best musicians they could find regardless of race. This was not an easy thing to do, but is taken for granted today! --George Hay

What do you like about checkers?: I enjoy learning more and more as i go. despite its alleged simplicity the game is incredibly complex and rewarding.

given the current volatility of world markets and economies and the relatively rapid devaluation of currency stocks. i think either silver or gold would be much preferable to cash :)
cheers

I would have to take payment in silver...right now $30 an ounce...Gold is way over priced at $1300 an ounce.
Old records are only what someone else will pay for them. Cash seems to be over-rated these days. Silver payment is fine.

very wise Mr Bauer all the experts predict a rapid increase in the price of silver in the next few years. It has to do with it being used in computer hardware plus having medical uses etc etc etc ...
I am not an expert on the topic but i have a little bit of silver on the side... you never know when a tip like that might help you along .

cheers
