Danny I'm wondering. What are they going to do with it?A southafrican airline is offering to give Kate Middleton and Prince William a head of cattle for their upcoming royal wedding
Yes Danny "bush poetry" is not unfamiliar to me.We have something very similar in oz ... it is called "bush poetry" and it has a very very long tradition.
Well Danny, so have I, I hope you do get to Calgary some day and when you do, keep it in mind that the "Stampede" is much more than just a rodeo, it's a 10 day extravaganze billed as "The Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth"! http://cs.calgarystampede.com/I have always wanted to attend the "Stampede"
I love all the events of a traditional rodeo and my wife and I along with the kids attended the Circle City Grand National Rodeo many times but it is no more. In resent years it's been replaced by the Professional Bull Riders, Inc. (PBR) Built Ford Tough Series' Jack Daniel's Invitational.i have a couple of mates that love bull riding.... that is one tough tough sport let me tell ya...
Danny,Some years back "Bush Poetry" had a big part in Elko Nevada's National Cowboy Poetry Gathering and several Australian poets were featured and took part that year.
Also:On weekends every now and then i walk around everywhere with my Akubra hat on and this causes no small amount of laughs by my family and friends, but
Okay Danny, this topic fascinates me and i hope we keep going for a while.
Pal i always find the number of similarities and the concordances between USA and Australia uncanny. The only major differences are that America is a large population while we are almost insignificant at 22 odd million and the differences between southern and northern hemisphere.Palomino wrote: Though there are thousands of miles of ocean separating us, there seems to be more similarities than differences in the links of the chain that connect our countries together.
Such as checkers, your country's drover and our country's cowboy heritages, Benjamin Dunkerley's "Akubra" bush hat and John B. Stetson's "Boss of the Plains" cowboy hat...
I'll add more later..."Pal"
Tommy i have no doubt at all that the dry aussie humour we enjoy so much is based primarily on poor auld paddy's quick wittommyc wrote:
