Re: the big match !!!
Hey guys !
I don't want to put more pressure on your weak nervious system
and am ready to clarify some things. As of today so far we have one bid only from USA, Cleveland area - Joseph LaConti and his company made a bid similar to what we had in 2008, 2010 GAYP matches and 2009 - 3 moves match. When I said that we have 2 options - I had in mind that we can accept it or reject it.
We do not have and never had any bid from FID. In the very beginning of process Michele asked FID if they want to help him to make a bid. I was totally okay with this and told Miki that he has my full support. Almost immediately in several days FID said that they don't have money, they already balanced budget for 2011, November 28 is too late for them ... Bla-bla-bla
After then they tried to teach us how to do business ... something like "if we don't have money to do things, we don't do them !"
Very interesting and quite fresh
Miki was very disappointed with such treatment. He told me that in general he has very good support at home from individuals, but not from Federation.
Thats all about FID and I don't want to talk more about this
Little bit more about Cleveland Metropolian bid. This year hotel will be different, not Roadway Inn, and in better and higher rank. Richard Beckwith is doing research now for hotel with high speed Internet access because we also want to organise "Internet life coverage" of match games.
Referee will be still Steve Holliday and maybe John Acker as Referee Assistant also join match team and will be in charge of accompain Miki and guests (if any) + John will be in charge of helping Steve and supporting match translation / coverage. If Miki decide to bring some experience player with him, this player also maybe included into Referee Committee.
There are couple other options with differents bids and venues which we still research now, but no real deals. Thats all for now.
I proposed Miki to play over American official holliday, Memorial Day (last Monday of May) and he is checking now this with his boss. End of May / beginning of June dates in general should be a good climate for Miki from sunny Italy.
In the meantime text of contract is reviewed and updated by Richard Beckwith. I don't think there will be any serious difference with match contract for WCM 2009.
So ... in conclusion we shoud say - business as usual, nohing significant and no $$$$$$ but this bid guarantee us that match is secured and will be played. Many thanks to Joe and his company for such support !

Re: the big match !!!
Miki Borghetti in general, without much details, accepted all terms and conditions regarding Cleveland bid but match dates are still subject TBD - based on his manager approval. End of May - beginning of June was proposed.
Anything else is very much at the same level without alot news - Richard Beckwith is searching on hotel and working on final contract text, WCDF still looking for some other opportuniies (yet, no real deals and bids).
As usually, ACF decided to donate $1,500 to match fund and there might be some private contributions here as well. As of today match cash price fund raised up to $5,000.

Steve would have refereed had the match remained in May. When the Italians counter-proposed August, Steve became unavailable due to family get-together plans.

From the ACF Homepage....
"The 3-move World title match between Alex Moiseyev (Dublin, Ohio) and challenger Michele Borghetti (Italy) will tentatively be played on August 13-23 in Cleveland, Ohio. The match will consist of 40 games, 4 games a day. John Acker has agreed to come to set up a live internet feed of the games. Contributions to the match fund or to John Acker's travel expenses (or to National tournament) are requested and may be sent to Richard Beckwith, 34490 Ridge Road #115, Willoughby, Ohio, 44094, or via Paypal at ACF Store Donations page. Donors of at least $20 will receive early copy of annotated games."
Donation sent via ACF donation page....along with a Hamilton to help John Acker with his costs. Wish I could give more....
Anyway...let the best man win !!!!
With guys like Acker and Strange trying to use the technology available in the current age, maybe this game can, once again, reach the American public consciousness as in days of yore, and take its proper place among the "challenges to the human mind" that it well deserves.
Not to digress (forgive me)...but I just heard on the news that there was a sponsored tournament last week to determine the fastest "texter" in America...first place $10,000.00
Kudos to the young American trailblazers and their efforts in, dare I say it (
), promoting the game .....

Hi JayJay H wrote: To Danny Alvarez.....yes, a World 3-Move Title match is like a World Heavyweight Championship Boxing match....alot goes on in the scheduling and promotion, and you cannot be sure the match will even take place until the two fighters are IN THE RING !!!![]()

And because of the boxing analogy .... and maybe because i have recently watched the rocky movies ....
I have been picturing Alex and Miki .... chasing chickens... running through Philadelphia up the steps

and Burgess Meredith yelling at them "you are going to eat lightning and crap thunder"
all these while having a soundtrack of either "gonna fly now" or "eye of the tiger" LOL
cheers
