Pal, I agree, I like the "Brain Gymnastics" title, because it is so true! This is a new American Pool Checkers website with instructive problems for a good mental "workout."
I like to compare straight and pool checkers. The endings of both games are especially ingenious. Comparing the openings of the two games helps me to see the obvious. When playing pool checkers against the computer, I found out that I must move my back row checkers sooner than in straight checkers to avoid getting jumped by the chess-bishop like king. It usually makes more sense to sacrifice a man to get a king in pool checkers than in straight checkers, since two kings against one king is a draw in pool checkers. I am surprised the top masters post a man on 14 or 19 in pool checkers. When I try that I inevitably get jumped by a man jumping backwards! I also like the new website for straight checkers, cross-board.com by Eric Strange. http://cross-board.com/

Re: Pool Checkers Online Library
Most of the site's information originated on the much larger checkersusa.com site that struggled to get its users to participate for a couple of years in 2004-2005. It covered both the 10x10 International Checkers and the 8x8 Pool Checkers games. The new Library already suffers the same ailment - users do not talk, just watch.
