Yeah I said I wasn't going to post in here again. But it seems people want to take when I say "American Checkers".... Everyone wants to read into the American part and not the Checkers part. I'm not saying if your not in the US then I don't like you or don't post here. You are all checkers players and I care for you equally.
I am saying that I enjoy coming here and reading about topics pertaining to American Checkers rather than people dying. I am sorry it is rude and offensive that I come to a checkers forum to read about. Everyone including Alan has spoken and said you can post anything you want in general discussion "discussion of checkers related topics". I just wanted to voice my opinion and got hammered for it.

Mate I don't want to argue anymore.... you've said your bit, I said mine...
But if you've lost someone in a quake, surely you can see how your comments would sting and hurt.

As far as wanting to see checkers topics.... , you can ignore a thread if you don't like it. I am sure your computer skills are proficient enough to do that.
Nobody is here to "hammer" you. Please read the whole thread with an open mind and try to step on our shoes.
There's nothing wrong with voicing opinions ... but sometimes we should filter those a little tiny bit.... timing is everything and death (no matter how natural it might be) hurts badly. can't you see that? All you have to do, is read what you wrote.
I hope I expressed myself clearly. Lastly if you read all our comments we were surprised at your comments because we expect a lot more from you....
(surely that is a good thing, the problem is when you shatter people's expectations too many times. they dont expect anything from you then and then anything you do doesnt surprise them anymore.)

Thats really cool Danny,theres a lot of humorous tales being told in canturbury about the quake,even in the midst of the tragedy,Wellington experienced an earthquake couple days ago,but not big enuff to be a worry.Theres talk of another earthquake that could hit Christchurch around march 20,as if they havent had enough.

Yes I have read that there might be another quake, i didn't see any dates on it though....
and i have a couple of friends in Wellington and they told me there was a small one there the other day

Lets hope there isn't anymore quakes at all and that the people of Canterbury can start rebuilding without having to worry about more devastation.

Jan, I was in Paris when the quake hit and the news coverage was extensive. I hope everything is returning to normal or, at least, as normal as things can be after such a disaster.

The support for cantabrians has just been amazing Gary,they say it will take 15 years to rebuild the city,but people from all over the world have come and helped.We even got some people from Mexico who go around paying out of their own pockets to travel,to help people in earthquake zones.Theyd come from haiti.Isnt that amazing!The good will and love of people.That has really touched the earthquake victims and made them smile again.Just when you think the world has gone to the pot,true sacrifice happens in these times from people who you dont even know.
They are still sorting through the rubble for people,but have given up hope of finding anyone alive,but who knows!The city is still getting a lot of aftershocks,and people are evacuating for a while,especially with children who are traumatized by the aftershocks.One little toddler who has come down here to Invercargill,everytiime he hears a truck passing he jumps under a table.

That is a major disaster by anyone's measure.

I wouldn't know how to cope with such a thing, Jan...I hope I never have to.

I have to agree totally Gary, i am thankfully that my family has lost only material things (yes that surely hurts financially) but we are all ok and we have survived 2 major disasters and we are all alive and kicking.
My heart really is with the people of Christchurch .... i heard someone on tv saying every place that was dear to her is gone now. This little old lady had lived in the same suburb for over 50 years .... heartbreaking.
Brisbane (my hometown) is doing a charity rugby match and it is sold out already i think we can expect a massive amount of money there. my prayers are with these brave people in Canterbury.
