GAYP QT 2011 in Italy.

Post by Alex_Moiseyev »

Yesterday American Checkers Federation officially invited me to represent ACF in Italy and I also had a chance to observe FID offer. Very nice and interesting bid indeed but I had to decline this offer as I always did in the past - due to my work, family and checkers commitments.

Respectfully,

Dear checker friends, here is the official communication of that, only very recently published by the WCDF after accepting the FID bid:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"World Qualifier Tournament 2011
Following the submission of a successful bid from the Federazione Italiana Dama, the World Qualification Tournament 2011 will be held at the “Nyala Hotel” (http://www.nyalahotel.com) 18038 San Remo, Italy. The dates will be 19th – 22rd October 2011. This is a 4* Hotel on the Italian Riviera and it is planned to have a two day “open” tournament just before the QT (October 17th + 18th).The QT itself will be held over 4 days and involve 8 rounds of play using GAYP opening system. ..."
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So the setting for this year's showdown is known.

Sad to hear you can't ake it Alex, but I hope the event will draw strong players from all over the word, especially from Europe this time.

I do from Richard Beckwith email, but don't know how official and accurate is this information. Overall - FID has very good offerings and discounts.

It will be better and more proper if Ingo, Hugh, John or other WCDF member post it here as official complete announcement.

Dear Jan , dear Alex,

thk you for your patient attention.

But plz understand that each condition I or any member of the WCDF executive board are publishing , are taken seriously.
So any wrong or premature announcement may cause confusion.
So plz understand that I can not give you all informatons I have, as the bid has been accepted , but the program is still not entirely worked out and details like the name of the referee, hotel reservations etc. still need to be worked out.

We only felt it necessary to inform the federations and the checker playing community about venue and dates as soos as possible, so that national qualifiers can be held and flight dates, available holidays or tournament calenders can be checked.

There will also be a further event staged by the FID during that time on two of the six dates.
It is still not determined, if on the first two days or on the last two days.
Take this or the name of the referee(s) as examples, what still needs to be determinded and is worked on, but is yet not ready to be announced.

Plz be patient, but we will publish details, program and list of participants as soon as possible, but not earlier.

Greetinx from rainy old Europe,

Ingo Zachos

Dear champion 374,

and all other interested players:

there will be an open event in checkers/draughts under our rules, with the intention of creating an annual event, either on the first two days or on the last two days.
Details of this event are yet to be determined.

If you are interested in room rates etc. you may ask me directly: nimzo@gmx.de, but plz indicate your real name, as I am always sceptical about any inquiry made under false names.

Why all the secrecy Ingo??? we do realize details are being finalized, if any info you give us is not 100% accurate, nobody will crucify you for it.

Why not share with everyone>? we want more people to attend why not tell them and make them want to attend???

cheers

Don't know this year, but in previous years they always extend it

It's not a case that someone endorsement will be rejected. But in situation when not all rooms are free earlier registration makes alot of sense. Trust me boy: don't be last in line
