Richard, how long was our game from OH match ? What was an exact number ? Our SG-48 from Sixth, USA 3 moves 2004 lasted more than 80 moves.

86 white and 86 red moves, correct ?

If Richard is OK - why not ? Observing the game where i was in lost may give my opponents wrong impression  I don't get into loss too often and it maybe interesting for forum members.

I remember this game continued more than 6 hours.

No, I don't object. I recall game was around 6 hours + 23 minutes, and perhaps should have lasted even longer had I not allowed the late drawing combination. There was a 7+ hour game in Guinness World Records (Oldbury-Tinsley).

John, something is missing - I don't see anything and can't play anything. Empty board.

Interesting discussion. Yes. I'm aware of the Hellman Banks (1958) game, and Hellman Ryan (1939) game - none of which is the longest game played in a US Nt ty. I agree its not in the ACF archive, but it is in hardcopy !

I have an extensive list of long games, both in terms of moves and time, and the records show that the Tinsley-Oldbury (1958) game is NOT the only one that went 7 1/2 hrs. However, this game between A.H. Richardson and E. A. Durgin has me stumped and hense the need to verify it if possible. Hugh

Alex,

I am having the same problem with both Jason's and John's posts but found a fix by clicking on one of the tool buttons "Larger", "Smaller" or "Flip". (The board then appears.)

Hope that helps..."Pal"

I have a database with now 97.000 games, and it has about 800 games with 50 (PDN count) moves, and this 4 games and 3 from computer competitions that lasted 100 moves (PDN count).
Do you have anything that may be useful addition to my website???

W.T. Call in Rambles With The Switcher, page 18, has this to say about a very long game of checkers:
In Passey's " ABC of Draughts," an unusually interesting handbook, Brisbane, 1906, which
Robert Mar, champion of Australia, helped to produce, a Switcher game of 228 necessary
moves, Richardson vs. Durgin, is reproduced from the Boston Post with the remark that it
is perhaps the longest game on record.

The link is to W.T. Call, as I cannot find the ABC book on the WWW.

Tommy, I'm sure it is a different book.W.T. Call's Rambles With The Switcher was published in 1916 and that predates any Wiswell book.

the "abc of draughts" that we are talking about is authored by Fred Passey ... who was a local "Brisbanite" and fellow Queenslander :) it was published in 1906 :)

If someone has a copy of this book i'd be quite happy to make an offer
cheers
