Musicians
I know Elbert Lowder was a piano tuner but I don't know what kind of pianist he was.
Are there any musicians posting to this board?
I play the oboe, guitar and some piano.
I know that chess Grandmaster Mark Taimonov was a concert pianist, and Vasily Smylov was an opera singer.
Robert Martins was said to be a good violinist.
What other gamester-musicians come to mind?

Not to confuse myself with the gamesters mentioned......
I come from a whole family of musicians.
Here is a one of our covers, a once and done track in my attic about 6 years ago when we were doing local jobs....I am sure you will recognize the tune. I am on drums(actually this recording was done playing an electronic drum pad) my brother Todd on bass and backing vocals, my brother Danny on guitar and lead vocals.

Ahhhhhhhh...my boy Todd !!!
Yes, I am either banging my drum, whipping my git or muffing my cat during liesure time.
Other than that, you will find me navigating the backroads of Central Pennsylvania Amish/Mennonite Country in a 38 foot long, 13 foot high straight-truck, being paid to dish out weather reports and my own (of course) biased opinions on the state of our local and national economy, and dropping off a few boxes of cabinetry hardware here and there...................

Re: Musicians
John, the piano rag is Sweetness, generally believed to be written by Charles L. Johnson using the pen name Fannie B. Woods. However, according to "Perfessor" Bill Edwards, Fannie B. Woods was a real life musician and the true composer of Sweetness. --George Hay http://www.perfessorbill.com/pbmidi7.shtml#sweetnessjohn reade wrote:Does anybody know what the rag is that is played as background music on the DVD that comes with the ICHF magazine 2010?

Re: Musicians
Sorry George, that isn't it! It has a similar rhythm but the melody line is different. Maybe it's another one of Charles L. Johnson's rags?

Re: Musicians
Found it! It's Piffle Rag dated 1914 by Gladys Yelvington. It's on Prof. Bill Edwards' website.
