This "trade" makes much stronger field and better country presentation (there were no Belarus players before).

A Mogilansky is very good Strong GMI for decades and my friend. I wish him all luck here.

In round 7 it appears all the games were drawn.

It also seems to be the case that the 10x10 world championship is to be decided on tournament play and not by Match Play. A retrogressive step.

Yes, the number of draws is very high, but that is partly due to the high level, and mostly because there is much at stake, and nobody wants to risk anything.

This is typical for chess or Checkers/Draughts as well.
Ron King is not a player that likes draws or does not take risks, but let him play Kondlo or Beckwith in a match and it can be 90 percent draws.
I would not blame him or any other.

Actually, in draughts 100 they play tournaments and matches for the WC, taking turns,
the last match being Schwatzman - Georgiev in 2009
Also , not surprisgly, they drew all their games, except the tie-breaking games...

If this is retogressive, I don't know.
Checkers/Draughts had held matches since 1847 only for the WC, so a tournament is no way a retrogression in that tradition, but would be the new approach, but maybe not the best.
The WMSG 2008 were the exception, as I regard them even higher as any WC so far, but technically they were no WC.
Persoanlly I like the idea of a top summit, but a round robin of the top players in Checkers/Draughts would be something I would like to see.

But, being a realist, I think a match with a though Qualifier is not that bad either for Checkers/Draughts, though ppl. only for the men's/overall title.

Anyway, what I like is the fact that the games are shown live, which is amazing.
In chess this is done for almost all top events, sometimes only for the top boards, and sometimes with a delay of a few minutes.

Something for the WCDF to invest in, maybe, now they are awash in funds from the Gene Lindsay bequest.

With all those draws both in tournaments and match play, as referred to above, perhaps the FMJD should
abandon Go As You Please, and follow in our footsteps by introducing the 3 Move Ballot in their championship tournaments.

Here is cross table. It seems like title should change hands again and an ex-workd Champion A. Georgiev is going to be next World Champion and return title.

If you look close at table you can see that among top 12 players there were only two non-drawn games.

Alexander Georgiev (Russia) has clinched the 10x10 World Championship with one more round to go. In round 18 Guntis Valneris (Latvia) vs. Alexander Mogilianski (USA) ends in a draw on YouTube. Mogilianski fights for and gets a tough draw against the WMSG Beijing 2008 Bronze Medalist.

The overall percentage of draws was very high - over 80%.

Definitely time they introduced the 3 Move Ballot !

No, there were two different players from top 12 who lost the game to another top player. It was at the time I made a post. At the end after 19 rounds number of none-drawn games among top 12 was 4 or around 5%.
