Heading to Humboldt. We were born for fun and joy ! Will be there around 10-11 PM.

See you soon.

Strawberry Festival today is probably the only one regular event where directors cover my lodging expances - respect to checkers and champions (past and present) is still alive ... but limited.

Many thanks to Larry Keen, Hugh Burton and all sponsors and supporters !

Just came back from Humboldt.

Many thanks for Mary and Frank Davis for excellent Reffering event, many thanks to all ladies who served a wonderful lunch on Friday and pizza on Saturday. Also many thanks to organisers and sponsors of event. Hugh Burton told me that originally Regal Bank manager approved $500 for donation, but after learning that I would be there - he approved $1,000 ! WOW

I finished with 20 points and secured 1st place and $400.

In last round I've got 3 points from John Webster who finished with 16 points. However there were 2 more players with 13 points who can catch him: Larry Keen played with Don West in last round and Clayton Nash played with Teal Stanley. I left earlier after I fiished my round and don't know what happend with 2-4 places.

I lost one round (#3) to John Webster - one lost and one draw. My first lost in 2011 and also my first lost of round to John since 1996 ! Anyway in 2010 from 150 games I played the only game (not round) I lost - to John Webster in TN - kind of bad tradition huh

This forced me to play with full strength to the rest of event, including last round with John where I had a chance for some revange.

37 players in 3 Division - record for Strawberry Festival. This number is constantly growing (29 previous year)which is certainly great news.

I also had a chance to talk shortly with Gene Ellision who said that he and Gary are very upset and disappointed with recent development on this website and as of today they don't see a possibility continue running IL events (State and IL 101 - two annual events). OMG

All for now.

Regards,

Alex

Congratulations to Clayton Nash and John Webster with tying for 2nd place and also congratulations to winners of Major Division - John Estes, and Minor Division - Belcher Dustin. Well done.

Clayton won his last round and catched J. Webster. This simply means - my efforts in last round were not for nothing. Before round started I was 2 points ahead of John and very much secured 1st place, but due to sportsmenship spirit and competition for 2nd place - I decided do not take a quick 2 draws but try to win one or two games. LArry also played two hard games with Don West trying to win the game, but get two draws.

What happened if I don't play last round at all or play two quick draws ... ? This may (or maynot) have serious influence on Clay and Larry play and they also may not play their games, and half of round would not be played and make it miserable.
