Re: N.Ireland Open 2011
Indeed William, welcome back Tommy! William, as you say, you are coming to Dublin in September and my offer of being of any help to you during your stay is there. I was wondering if you would be willing to play a simultaneous exhibition with the players within the Dublin clubs and anyone else from the locality who may be willing to attend? Feel free to say no, as I realise you are here on another mission . ps, the first time I met John McGill is when he played a simultaneous exhibition with the Glasgow and Renfrew clubs in the early seventies. I cannot recall the outcome but I think only two people drew with him. Just a proposal. Regards, Bernie.
Re: N.Ireland Open 2011
Goodafternoon Bernie
Yes it would indeed be a pleasure for me to play an exhibition match in Dublin.
I will of course be rusty , very rusty, but nevertheless I am sure that this will be a fabulous way for me to meet all the Dublin players at the same time, strike up new friendships , and put an estimation on
how much work will have to be done to my game before getting back into the ty. scene at the beginning of 2013.
Just let me know when , I will be in Dublin from 19th sept on for 3 weeks
Thank you!!

Re: N.Ireland Open 2011
Thanks William. I am sure your agreement to participate in the proposed simultaneous draughts exhibition will stimulate the appetite of the Dublin draughts playing community, and from the outlying towns within commuting distance from Dublin. Some players have never met you before, but I am sure they will remember you for many years to come, such is your stature in the game! I will be working with the two Dublin clubs to organise a suitable venue and evening for this venture. I will also be in contact with Liam Stephens (Irish draughts newsletter editor) if he would publish this forthcoming event in his next newsletters. Regards to all.
