My ratings page is better now.... J.R went through my site with a fine tooth comb and pointed out every flaw, missing player, duplicate player, etc.

I fixed most issues so we could have a perfect database before we begin with 2009. :)

John, Just move up stop playing in the minors. Everyone knows playing people that much lower in rating will drop ya on draws. Billy

Will Sir Alan be the referree ?

Reminds me of an old song:

"If you see me coming , better step aside,
A lot of men didn't and a lot of men died,
One fist is iron the other is steel,
If the right one don't get you then the left one will."

Maybe we can do a triathlon sort of thing. Play some sets of checkers, fight, and then have a spelling Bee. John will win one of those.

As far as 1500 and it taking 5 years to do.... I assume your referring to the Java applet.

1. The reason it all takes soooo long is because I have no money to pay to have this work done... so it is like a side hobby for the people helping checkers... If I actually had money to spend on this everything would be done very very quickly.

2. Striking down the person who works very hard to make checkers better for everyone including you seems a little ignorant.

3. What have you done besides whine and cry about literally everything. I update ratings from 2008 to 2009 and instead of saying thank you or at least keeping ur mouth shut and being grateful you cry about your rating dropping 20 points. You could take some lessons from my 2 year old daughter.

wasted my life how?
I am completely confused... how I have wasted my life.... for one I am only 26... My life has just begun...
I got a kid and a wife who loves me... before I got married I hooked up with a new girl every week and partied like crazy.
I traveled all over the country and to many different countries
I spent new years 2007 in amsterdam and partied in munich for oktoberfest. with my many many friends
I did my time in the military (which was a ton of fun) and still have people go out of their way to travel to where I live just to hang out with me again.
Now I am going to college for free because of the GI BILL
I Hike, Fish, offroad, play xbox, play a many number of sports on my free time.
I have a job where I sit on my personal computer and play checkers all day.
To top it all off... when I am in a room I am the center of attention and everyone loves me.
I walk around beaming with confidence and a smile on my face.
I could write a 500 page paper on why I love my life haha.
was your post more of an inward reflection... cause u obviously know nothing about me.
Walk a day in my shoes would be the best day of your life.

Eric the ratings dont affect me at all but i commend you on the work done, im sure a lot of other people will appreciate that.

As far as ur argument with John goes ill stay out of it (almost).

I love the fact that you included having a child that loves you as one of your achievements..... I personally think the best thing i have ever done was to have 2 beautiful girls who adore me.... and as far as i am concerned just by doing that i could do nothing else in my lifetime and still achieve a lot more than presidents and prime ministers...

just my two cents worth.....

Cheers

http://cross-board.com/checkers
http://cross-board.com/tourneys

ratings have been updated to 2009-06-20.

Alex wont be very happy

Keep in mind that this new system will eventually change everyones ratings in bulk though. Alex just tends to play more tournaments than everyone else so his rating is affected much faster than everyone elses. ratings were too spread out in the old system and it seems they are compressing a little in the new system. Where right now winning a tournament does not show much improvement because the winners seems to be 400 points over the average competition. Eventually winning a tournament will reap great rewards. Just keep in mind that the rating system is adjusting back to normal right now and will all be for the better.

The goal is to have ratings up to current by nationals!!! then maybe we can assign players to what division they should play in based on ratings. Or at least stop players from playing down!

It's not a problem if players want to go down - they are not real sportsmans and ... good luck ! The problem is when someone try to go up and play in Division they are not deserve and do not belong.

This completely ruin a good sportmenship atmosphere.

The door for amateur players to high divisions must be close and open only when they improve. Checkers is not kindergarden where everyone is special, checkers is sport.

Rating is a good tool to prevent players to play in wrong division.

I am playing checkers, not chess.

Players going down is more of a concern than players going up Alex. Players going up just means you get 2 easy wins and they realize they are in the wrong division. Players playing down screws lower players moral. It is like if I play majors I am very hopeful that I will win. If you play in majors then my dreams are now shot. The game needs to be worried about the new players that are coming up and not be catering to the last generation. You guys need to be setting a standard for new players to strive for and not beating them out of what they have worked for.
