John, I signed up for Facebook, but then I deactivated my account. I wrote to them the reason:

For games, chess has a nice picture, but checkers has a non descript picture of cards, not good, please change. Checkers deserves a picture of checkers!

Let's see if they respond, if they don't I won't be back. --George Hay

John, thank you for spreading the word about checkers, my problem is with the menu of signing up for Facebook. The path is SIGN IN> EMAIL/PASSWORD>EDIT PROFILE>ARTS AND ENTERTAINMENT>GAMES. Then after typing just a "C" a list of games appears with CHESS being the first game with a nice picture, many other games have nice pictures also. But continuing typing "C-H-E-C" finally CHECKERS appears with a generic picture of cards. I don't mind typing in a full "C-H-E-C-K-E-R-S" but a picture is worth a thousand words! --George Hay

John, thank you for your help, I did sign on long enough to hit the "like" button for the ACF page, and then I deactivated again giving this reason to Facebook:

The Community Checkers page has a picture of a generic card game, while it should have a picture of a checkers game, as the Community Chess page has a picture of a chess game.

I hope they have a positive response. --George Hay

Checkers Drive-In Restaurants rescued the checkers community page (generic interest page) from an undignified obscurity. Good for them, and good food!

What do you like about checkers?: I enjoy learning more and more as i go. despite its alleged simplicity the game is incredibly complex and rewarding.

Hi Danny,

I am also thinking about becoming a vegetarian. I have already cut out beef and pork, which includes those Five Guys hamburgers I so dearly love. On occasion, I do have a serving of skinless chicken or fish, usually some sort of wild Pacific salmon. In fact, I just had some for lunch.

I don't know much about cooking. Therefore, I have found myself trying out some vegetarian foods at local restaurants at local groceries.

If I do become a vegetarian, I want to make sure I do it right and not deprive myself of any essential vitamins and minerals. I want to make sure I eat a "complete protein" with any vegetarian meal I try.

I am guessing you are an experienced vegetarian. What do you think of the following in regard to their nutritional value, both of which I have tried so far, and which I have enjoyed:

1) At a local Chinese restaurant, there is a "health" menu which includes entrees of pure steamed broccoli and steamed tofu. I usually buy one of each. When I take it home, I usually throw away the white rice and prepare brown rice instead. Then I mix it all together. This combination usually lasts me three meals.

2) At a local groccery store, there is a salad bar, which includes shelled edamame beans in olive oil, artichoke hearts, shredded carrots, and baby leaf spinach. I got a small container of this the other day, containng a little bit of each of the above. and thinking it would only be a side dish for my evening dinner. To my surprise, it filled me up completely by itself, with some left over.

I am new to this, having just started in July. So far I have lost 25 pounds. I have also started working out at the YMCA.

But I'm not out of the woods yet, as I still need to lose about 100 more pounds.

Your comments and feedback will be appreciated.

Mr Cayton , I have sent you a private message, please let me know if you do not receive it.

Here in Australia we are entering Summer (we have 9 months of summer+ 2 months of autumn that we have to pretend is winter+ 2weeks of spring and autumn that shoulder the summer..... aaaaah gotta love the subtropics :D ) and if i intend on going to the beach as often as i'd like i need to lose between 6 and 10 pounds :) .... once upon a time i could eat like a horse and there were no consequences

cheers and best of luck with the change of diet
