Josh (or Jolt ?), I am not playing world championship games at 3 AM  ha-ha

Please, don't take this too serriously and make any conclusions. This make me feel badly. You said that other players are coming and play game or two for fun So do I. Why my games you take too serious ?

And rememer, if someone did well against me in Internet, don't forget - we are talking only about online play. Don't convert this into real life and say ... "Hey, I beat Alex and need his title !" In 2010 I lost only 1 game out of 140 in real events and so far lost only 1 game in 2011 out of 80 ... though being in lost in few more.

BTW. All these trash talks are the big reason (among other) why my online activity dropped in the past years.
I am playing checkers, not chess.

Like I've heard that such and such has been undefeated in 11 man for 6 years but they only play a match every 2-3 years consisting of a dozen games. You also heard that such and such guy only loss one game or didn't lose any in this or that tournament but when such player go to Kurnik and play a top online player like Fredo, they struggle to win even one game.
Chee, how much experience did that player have in online checkers? I did not think there was much difference from online checkers to in person real checkers, but there was a big difference. Way more time, lots less distracting, and not to mention a real board. A much different atmosphere. A lot more pressure to where many people gather around the table staring at your game. Until you, Fredo, Warrior Max come to a live tournament and finish near the top of master division, (which I do believe you all could possibly do) no one will believe the hype. Tournaments players understand this difference, which I honestly believe you overlook a bit. I get beat by Internet players all the time, but it means nothing to me because I know the games arent anywhere close to my best.

Yo Joe,

Would you be willing to accept me as a roommate if I gave you 75% of your room costs cash? I understand you might have a single, but I'd be willing to get a sleeping bag/ask front desk for a cot. The hotel is booked, and the other hotel options run about 450-700 for the week (oiiii).

From my past experience, (John Acker, Gene Ellison, Dustin Belcher) I think I antagonized my roommates a bit as a forewarning of caution, but I'd promise to be on my best behavior. BTW I will be in the master division so no competitive distraction

I get you Chee, life can get in the way sometimes and taking that job was probably more important. I will consider your offer, but I have been having lots of success just playing slower games and focusing on the quality over quanity. After all, slower games is what is played in tourneys. Blitz is fun though, and we should play some after the tourney. I actually probably won't make it Sunday night because my little niece is having her birthday party that day. That is my life getting in the way :)

I have to congratulate Alex on his masterful comparison (or should that be Grandmasterful?)
Checkers are indeed like girls.... and by inference the internet guys claiming they are sooooooooo good they don't need to attend a live tournament are all talk and NO ACTION.... and they can talk all day but like Sir Mick Jagger they will get NO SATISFACTION :D

as I have said previously... who do you think you are fooling?
keep making outlandish claims about your talent, it means squat unless you back it up across a real board.

cheers from a cold and distant Australia my fellow checker aficionados :)

I could not have said it better myself. Why do people talk about skill when they are just HORRIBLE at checkers???

Only people should be discussing skill level in this topic is Alex, Chee, Joe and me.

Danny and John need to put their tails between their legs and wait for the big boys to get done talking.

The Following was a request by a friend to post. He is a very good player and checkers supporter:

Chee made a ranking of players’ performance in kurnik for 3move. Putting the ranking here, the ACF site, is certainly odd. Many ACF players may see this is bragging, about Kurnik players being superior. However, that was clearly not the intention. Those rankings are entirely his personal opinions and are obviously subjective.

Whether you play checkers online or at tournaments, checkers is checkers. Personally I am confident in my abilities as a checkers player. I know I am not the greatest and will never be. I don’t feel the need to prove to anyone my skill, online or offline, to anyone. In my younger days I had that urge, although I never did make it to a tournament. I can say that I am in the top 1% of the World’s population in Checkers, and I’m proud of that. If I go to a Walmart, I am pretty confident I am able to beat everyone in the store. Going to a tournament does not make you a better player. Consistent study on the game does. With the economy in its state, almost every tournament is a losing venture. I’d love to see only the top 3 or 5 finishers receive payment. They should be rewarded more so than someone who didn’t win a game. If you win Masters division, you should receive more than the winner of Majors. Recently Dustin Belcher donated his back to next years prize fund, something I think many other players should do. It is tournament winnings, if you get last, you shouldn’t win anything, except the enjoyment of playing high caliber players. It is very simple and logical. Sorry for the tangent, but it is something I haven’t seen discussed on this forum.

Tournament players and online players seem to be a different breed. Online people are looking to have fun. Testing their limits against strong opponents. When tournament players come online they seem to ask why they are having fun? Checkers is serious business, no fun involved. Respect your elders, they are better than you, son. You could never play on a real board. Condescension at its highest. think ACF members should not talk about the skill level of Kurnik players unless they have played against them. I also think Kurnik players should not talk about tournament players unless they have played against them in a tournament. Remember that we are all share a fondness in the game of Checkers and be civil towards each other.

A house divided against itself cannot stand.

For what its worth,
A.R.
