In your age - YES, it's never late and everything is ahead. But in my age ...
I am playing checkers, not chess.

Happy Birthday to Gary Jenkins/jaguar72! (Just so you know, Gary, I did read To Kill A Mockingbird at your suggestion. Thanks to you I read a great book, a book all checkerists can be proud of!) Have a Hap-Hap-Happpy Birthday!

Why, thanks, George. Much appreciated.
I'm glad you enjoyed
To Kill a Mockingbird which is, I think, one of the finest works of American fiction ever.
Thanks again.
"You've got everything to lose from this, Atticus. I mean everything."
"Do you really think so?"
This was Atticus's dangerous question. 'Do you really think you want to move there, Scout?' Bam, bam, bam and the checker-board was swept clear of my men.

Now if I could only win a couple o' checker games...(John stopped by my house last Friday; we played; he won; as usual; damn).

I'm hopeful that your birthday was a special one Gary.
I guess it's just a part Murphy's law that the year you turn 65 and eligible for social security the government would shut down and stop sending out checks, oh well you can make up the difference from your checker winnings.

Thanks Danny and Pal for the thoughts. Very much appreciated.
Yeah, I can live on my checker winnings... .
Even if Acker the Attacker and I were playing for a dime a game, I'd still be two or three bucks in the hole... .
Maybe I'll get better. Then I can play for the big prizes!!
V/R Always,
