John, it was not the week rate. As long as you mention your part of the checkers club, you will get the huge discount of about 22-23 a night :)

John, the best deal is "seven-day rate" - $162.00. If you divide this by 7 - you get $23 per night. However, you can't just stay only 4-5 nights and pay $23 per night - you have to pay for the full week: $162.00 which is still better than pay $50 per night for 4 or 5 nights.

Hope this helps.

Alex, the man I spoke to was very clear on the phone. I am almost 100 percent certain it was only 20 some a night for the 5 days Mon through Saturday. I asked him about the week rate, but he said I would not need that with the deal he offered. If I am wrong, then the man gave me false information. I am going to call tommorow and see whats up, its best if you do that too John.

Haha. I just called and the man I spoke to before totally got it wrong! I was being charged for 20.50 a night for five days, but that is actually the weekly rate he gave me. I offered them 7 days not to cheat, but they are keeping me at 20.50 a night for the 5 days. Sweet.

If you haven't made your reservation yet for Medina next week, you may want to do so ASAP. I am told the hotel is filling up. (There must be much non-checker activity going on in the area at the same time.) Hotel number is 330-725-4571. It may be better, at the menu, to do 0 for front desk to get within block of rooms. I updated tournament announcement on ACF Calendar last week (left panel at usacheckers.com homepage).

I am here in Medina and willing to play in USA National GAYP 2011. From last news news - Richard Hallet (83) for the first time not showup due to health problems. Certainly not good news indeed.

From good news - Jack Francis told me that he is going to beat me in both games and play something I never seem before. Thats great news because I am always open to learn something and thats why I am here.

More later ...

Business meeting is in progress. It is a low overturn this year and total number of players is less than 25  - first time in history. We decided still (maybe last time) to use 3 Divisions this year as it was announced, but number of rounds and days will be reduce.

Yet 10 players registered in Master, 9 in Major and 4 in Minors.

In all three Division we'll play 10 rounds in 4 days.

In Master and Majors we voted to play 1 Robin Round torunament (9 rounds) + 1 Repair Round.

In Minors they'll play 3 Round Robin sessions + 1 Repair round.

In all Divisions we'll play 2+3+3+2 rounds from Tuesday thru Friday.

Alan Millhone graciously escaped in second game (I beleive Richard missed a win), and joined with me and Ron by leading Division with 3 points.

In Majors three players collected 3 points after 1st round: J. Acker, J. Moore and R. Johnson.

John / Travis, nice cross table, I like it !

Today Kim promised to deliver tournament schedule and we'll know to the rest of tournament who are our opponents in each round.

Ron King seems to be in good form and fully armed. He won two nice games over Carl Reno - GAYP guru. One game was opened 11-15, 24-20, 15x24, 27x20 :D - don't remember who had red and white haha.

I am still a bit warming up, Nick was shocked with losing games but hopefully psychologically is stable enough and will be recover soon.

Joe Moore (6 points) after 2 rounds is second in Major Division trailing Raleigh Johnson (7). I am glad and proud that I gave him good advice to play in Majors, and he choose to follow it.

More is coming ...

Looks bad strategy to give Ron a 4 point lead @ half-way point ? He wont be caught from there.
