What do you like about checkers?: Always enjoyed the game and the challenge it brings. Just you and your opponent battling your minds. Also, it's just a friendly game that people can just sit and have fun playing while communicating with each other.

Haha Wayne, I really enjoyed your post. Getting back to the other comments. I'm in no way a master player nor am I a beginner. But to say that the competition in the blitz tournament was awful is just crazy. They are some of the highest ranked masters in the game today. And I also disagree with saying that 5/0 is not blitz. It's faster than you would think. People online do not realize that in live blitz, you have to factor in the time to king your opponent's kings plus hitting the clock after every move. And it's 5 mins for 2 games which is 2.5 mins per game. So I guarantee it's harder than what people think it is.

At least 3 or 4 high ranked masters is blitz and it gets called pathetic, when the online blitz kings didnt even show up. And the bickering like Clayton said needs to stop. It is really pathetic by both sides.

FYI it was 5 minutes per game, not per round. But it still went by a lot faster than I thought it would.
I've never been good at fast games anyway so I finished about where I expected, but I really thought 5 minutes would last longer. Even at 10 seconds per move thats 30 moves per game per person, which I feel is a lot. That time clicked away pretty fast, especially when my opponent moved somewhere I wasn't expecting. Instead of reaching for my next planned move it made me sit back and rethink my entire attack.

The games between Jack and Ron we're lightning fast though. I wish someone had video recorded it.

Alex Holmes played very well. I had him in a weak position in both games and his mind worked faster than mine to get out of them for 2 draws. I know if the roles had been reversed I most likely would've lost the positions.

This loser Bobby who already has prepared an excuse not to play me, yet still want to claim a made up victory over me in the past.
You are a walking excuse duuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuude.... your name should be Chee Xcuse-iong
and yet you chastise others for giving excuses???
You should author a book called "how to say 'the dog ate my homework' in a million different ways"
Chee Xiong wrote:Since this Bobby nobody good has ever heard of claims that he was an original top 1/0 player, we must listen to him. He knows what he's talking about, lol.
No we shouldn't believe Bobby, NOT AT ALL.... yet we should believe this idiot that calls himself Chee because ALLEGEDLY he is a grandmaster .... (to quote you) WE MUST LISTEN TO HIM , HE KNOWS WHAT HE TALKS ABOUT.....

do you see my point now???? just because you claim something, it doesn't make it so...

What do you like about checkers?: Checkers is a good stimulating exercise for the mind. At age 67 I'm still having fun and still learning after quitting for 17 years and starting again with the North Carolina Open Checker Tournament
