if I've got it correctly, Miki Borghetti told me after end of match in Cleveland that himself and Sergio Scarpetti are considering seriously to play in San Remo in October this year.

What do you like about checkers?: Checkers is a good stimulating exercise for the mind. At age 67 I'm still having fun and still learning after quitting for 17 years and starting again with the North Carolina Open Checker Tournament

Why would Ron King play the GAYP QT when he is already in the drivers seat?
He can just sit back and wait for a challenger and a bid lol

Ingo, You have the dates wrong! The Qualifier is 19 to 22 October and the Warm Up Tournament is 17/18 October. Today is the closing date for nominations! John.

thanks for sharing with us John :)

i am surprised that Mr Borghetti is not attending .... and I am also surprised that the USA is only sending one player or should i say ACF (well technically USA is sending 3, but you know what i mean, i hope).
good luck to everyone involved, the organizers, the WCDF and the players ....

what will the coverage be like? After the recent WCM coverage i think expectations have been raised sky high as far as what can be achieved there.

cheers

He may need some rest after our match and also he likes 3-moves.

In our match before it's stared I proposed to invite John to join match team and cover all his expances which also came from match fund

Italian organisers of GAYP QT should invite him to Italy and cover his expances if they want the highest calibre and world level coverage

In addition they also should probably to pay him his regular annual salaray which he receives in OSU as English teacher !

Coverage match in Cleveland as of today is more likely as a great exception, not standard. Everything depends on enthusiasm of individuals. We had John and we had excellent coverage, no John - nothing. People makes difference.

I agree totally Alex.... but I also think some people will be inspired to raise the standard of coverage thanks to John's effort. It will be the exception to the rule... no doubt about that.

How tiring is the World Championship Match and what do you do afterwards to ease back into the swing of things, Alex?
I ask because, although we have an idea , i think most people don't realize how exhausting it can be.

Playing 10 days in average 8-10 hours a day is a great physical and mental challenge. I am very tired today after 1 month and still need probably another 3-4 months for full recovery. Getting older is more challenging than in young years.

Nothing special, just waiting when this nightmare is over  There is only one proved way - just play and play again until it's over. By the end of year I plan to attend at least two State events - IN and AL. Also thinking about NC.

For the time now I am very busy with my preparaton for the upcoming 10x10 Composition World Championship, Mid Problems (up to 12 pieces for balck and white). Deadline to send positions - end of September. I will try again to challenge reigning World Champion Valadimir Matus, Russia but it won't be an easy task.

This preparation is also a part of my recovery from Anglo-American 3-moves Checkers match with Miki Borghetti.
