Atlantic City, New Jersey?
Yes, I could go for that.
Although my first choice would be Las Vegas, I would consider Atlantic City a very decent alternative.

ARTICLE VIII - NATIONAL TOURNAMENTS
Section 1 - Time
The ACF shall conduct a national tournament every year under a system and style of play approved and announced by the Executive Committee. The ACF shall encourange national, district and state tournaments, which may include special divisions for men, women and youth.
Section 2 - Bids for Venue
Bids for Venue of a national tournament shall be declared open when so designated by the president, to whom all communications regarding same shall be forwarded with copy to the Promotions Director. The bid shall be at least two thousand dollars ($2,000.00). No lesser bid is official or eligible. At least $500.00 should be sent as earnest money upon notification that a bid has been accepted. Bids may be either closed December 31st of the year preceding the tourney (contract-type) or open after December 31st for a stated period (auction-type) as decided by the Executive Committee and announced in the Bulletin.
The full amount (including the earnest money) of the successful venue bid must be sent to the ACF President or Treasurer not later than three months prior to the established tourney date. Bidding groups may solicit outside their ACF district to raise their venue bid.
Section 3 - Bidders Responsibilities
Bidders are responsible for making full arrangements for hotel, playing site, banquet arrangements, if any, programs for the ladies and to advise the Executive Committee promptly of these arrangements. Over and above the amount of the venue, bidders are financially responsible for and shall provide suitable trophies for Master, Major, Minor and Junior division winners. Hotel arrangements by the promoters are to include complimentary rooms for the Secretary, the Treasurer, and Player Representatives and other key personnel. The accepted Bidder may calculate $50.00 per day per person for each complimentary room (regardless of actual cost for similar paying guests), plus an additional $10.00 for each complimentary meal furnished per person, per room, per day. (Example: Three (3) complimentary meals per person, per room, per day would be $30.00.)
Section 4 - Promoters Records
Venue promoters are to keep complete records of all contributions received and are to submit names and addresses to the Promotions Director promptly after the tourney.
Section 5 - Restriction of Entry Field
Any member of ACF in good standing may enter the national tournament upon payment of entry fee. Any member of ACF not in good standing with ACF financially shall be made to make full financial settlement before being allowed to enter the tournament. Any player not in good standing with ACF whose application for membership has been rejected by the Executive Committee, or who has been suspended for the current year, or who has been permanently expelled from organized competition by ACF, shall be ineligible to enter the national tournament. Any player not in good standing with the ACF, whose application has not been previously rejected by the Executive Committee, may be eligible to enter the tournament by payment of ACF dues for the current year.
Section 6 - Business
The business of the national tournament shall be conducted by the attending elected officers of ACF in accordance with the reccommendations of the various appointed committees.
Section 7 - Disbursement of Prize Funds
Sufficient money shall be retained from the total prize fund to pay for adequate annotations of the tournament games to help with Bulletin publication expense and to pay the referee's fee.
Section 8 - Tournament Games
ACF shall exercise all rights pertaining to the publishing of the games of the tournaments.
Section 9 - Right to Challenge for World Title
The ACF shall select participants (such as based on National Tournament finish coupled with the participants. willingness to attend) to compete in a qualifying tournament that is approved by a suitable world checker (draughts) association (federation). These participants may also include youth and women.s world events. Winners of this tournament are normally qualified to challenge for the world title, with contracts negotiated by the appropriate world federation. The exception to this may be youth events, where, due to the age restriction, a youth world champion may be declared at the world-qualifying event itself.
Section 10 - Entry of World Match Champion
The world match champion may enter the national tournament without risking his own title. In the event the world match champion should win the tournament, the Executive Committee shall give full consideration to the runners-up in the national tournament for the world-qualifying tournament. The ACF will not be bound to negotiate the challenge of the runner-up, nor shall the world match champion be bound to accept it unless it is so reported and recommended by the Executive Committee and such match is promoted and played in the Continental United States.
Section 11 - Tournament Referee
The ACF President shall appoint an official tournament referee. The referee shall receive a fee to be set by the Executive Committee.

John,JohnAcker wrote:Jay, I think that clause is to ensure that donors get copies of the Selected Games from the NT. Also, it was common in earlier periodicals to print donor lists in the ACFB and in match books.
Thanx for playing along......
I donated $20.00 to the GAYP National, $20.00 to the "Blitz" ty, this was at the same time I donated $25.00 to the Moiseyev-Borghetti match......and there is no mention of my donations anywhere in the ACF bulletin.....makes me wonder if my donations even went to the functions named, or were "absorbed" into the Millhone-Beckwith-LoConti fund....Seriously, ACFB mentions Gary Jenkins donating a book, the Oldbury Trust fund, everybody who showed up and helped, but no mention of my donations.
BTW, I also, at the same time, sent $10.00 to help with your expenses streaming the Moiseyev-Borghetti match....
John, did you, at any point in time, receive from anyone, $10.00, and were told this was from Jay Hinnershitz to help cover your expenses ?

Look, John,JohnAcker wrote:Look, Jay, I'm sorry if you didn't get acknowledged in the way you thought was proper. No one who contributes to the ACF gets a ticker-tape parade, and many of us don't even get noticed. So: thank you very much for your donations. Now if you're going to accuse the ACF leadership of laundering the money, kindly provide more concrete evidence than the lack of a published donor list.
I have typed and retyped several responses to this post, and then decided I do not want to dignify it, other then to inform you, or ANYONE who gives a pinch, that you will never have to be concerned with acknowledging my contributions again. (As if anyone ever was)

I like the AC idea as it is close to me. However, considering the light turn out in the GAYP National, I would hope we could get it in a spot that could bring out the most players, perhaps a spot closer to the south as the Southern tournies normally get good attendence. WV or Kentucky would work for me.

Another idea I thought of for the site of an ACF National Tournament, and which is a little further to the south, is Ocean City, Maryland. Wasn't there an ACF National Tournament held there back in 1952?

Re: im alive all..
I s money laundering common in the ACF? I say that b/c i have never seen it mentioned before in the Forum until John Acker brought it up? As for the ACFB there not much else in it except "corrections"of Basic Checkers and Ty dates and venues.
