Thx Alex,

nice picture of Erika.

She simply crushed her opponets, and she still is able to play in U16 Championships in draughts 100, so wait for her to play Amagul.
Congratulations to her and Alessio Scaggiante who won the Juniors ahead of compatriot Gennaro Bruno and Maksat Durdyev.

Final standings

Women:

1. Erika Rosso, Italy, 23/24
2. Irma Bejashvili, Israel, 13/24
3. Gultach Madanova, Turkmenistan, 9/24
4. Akbabek Hudayguliyeva 3/24

Juniors:

1. Alessio Scaggiante, Italy, 20/24
2. Maksat Durdyev, Turkmenistan, 14/24, Maksat won direct encounter.
3. Gennaro Bruno, Italy 14/24,
4. Gochmyrat Gochakov,Turkmenistan 0

At the mens Kondlo, Francis and Scarpetta now on 15, Jim Morrison at 14 and Amangul at 13, all undefeated,

I lost both better endings to Bashim, who in turn lost both games to Kondlo. He is now the only one to win and lose both games against one opponent.

Pairings round 7:

Francis (15) -Morrison (14)
Scarpetta (15) - Berdiyeva (13)
Kondlo (15) - Ciampi (12)
Duryev (12) - Owens (12)
Martynov (12) - Bishop (9)
Beckwith (11) - Kareta (9)
Tovagliaro (10) - Zachos (9)

Still no decision, but Lubabalo now with the "easier" pairing on paper.

Greetinx from sunny San Remo,

Ingo Zachos

What do you like about checkers?: I enjoy learning more and more as i go. despite its alleged simplicity the game is incredibly complex and rewarding.

congratulations to Erika on a wonderful showing and i agree with Alex the match next year will be interesting.

It looks to me like Mr Kondlo has the easier opponent for sure..... from what i can see it looks like Kondlo or Francis win .... with Kondlo the favourite...
Tommy's shed looks to be safe for now :)

Ingo what happened to Mister Nqezo from South Africa ??

cheers

What do you like about checkers?: Checkers is a good stimulating exercise for the mind. At age 67 I'm still having fun and still learning after quitting for 17 years and starting again with the North Carolina Open Checker Tournament

Congratulations Erika! Well done! :)

I hope Erika Rosso will not be hassled by Amangul's manager, when she tries to get a title match with Amangul.
We remember the big runaround from Amangul's manager. And a lot of stalling with no straight answers from the Turkmenistan side!
We will see if things have changed since that fiasco :)

I think there should be concerns and considerations for the safety of any western players in Islamic countries.
There has been many clashes between the two cultures. It is wrong to pretend there were no problems.

[quote="Alex_Moiseyev"]New World Title Match paticipant Erika Rosso, also 2011 Woman Champion in Italian Checkers. From 10 games - 9 wins - fantastic result. Her match with Amangul will be very interesting.

Yes... Erika Rosso is a very impressive player! :)

I posted my annotations to first four rounds under "General Discussion" Section. The most interesting and important missings I find so far:

1) Lubabalo Kondlo was in lost against Garrett Owens in first game of first Round.

2) Sergio Scarpetta missed a win against Bashir Durdyev in the second game in Round 3.

3) Jim Morrison missed a win against Amangul Berdiyeva in the first game in Round 4.

See for details topics "Missing opportunities In "General Discussion" Section of forum.

Short update of last round:

Sergio, who leads with 19 was held to a draw in game one by Igor Martynov.
Jack Francis, who is on 18, was held to two draws by Garrett Owen.
Kondlo, who also was on 18 lost the first game to Richard Beckwith.

The game Martynov - Scarpetta, their 2nd game, is still played.
Alll Sergio needs is a draw now.

Jim took a game from Roberto, and Claudio from Filip while me and Amangul and Anthony Bishop and Bashim Durdyev played two draws.

Sergio knows that he missed a win against Bashim, his only mistake so far.

Looks like a possible Italian triple crown...

Hot congratulations to Sergio Scarpetta - exceptional and very oustanding victory !

It seems like in checkers we are getting to "change generations and geography " era. Gegemony and domination of Anglo-American countries is ending.

Sergio Scarpetta just drew his 2nd game with Igor Martynov and is now on 21 points. Jack Francis with 20 cant catch him, as he finished all his games.
Kondlo on 18 can still get to 2nd place if he wins and scores 20.
Triple crown to Italy!

Winners:

Ladies: Erika Rosso
Youth: Alessio Scaggiante
Men: Sergio Scarpetta.

Good luck, Sergio and Erika for your matches !
