Suki has to concentrate greatly in order to win an event. But even this may not help him. Not everything now is completely under his control because I assume he already played with Shane and Shane now is on his own and also can collect as much wins as he can. Very interesting scenario and intrigue.
I wish best luck to both of them and all other players. All champions get older some day but not easy to take them over
True enough Alex, Shane and Ron have played in early rounds 2 draws.....................so its in the melting pot ,i suppose its about the luck of the draw and managing to get 4 points off your weaker opponents. Thats the bottom line, this is how Hugh Devlin won so many championships ....dont lose to the top players in a Ty and make the best of the others............pressure = points.
In answer to Alex.............older champs are tuff to beat i agree;; but sooner or later they must give way to "the new grass" Period.

This is just one tournament, and a 3-move event, so chance is most of the time prevailing over skill.
It looks like Shane and Ron r dominating, but the final result is determined after the last game has been completed.
Miki overtook Ron in Dublin 2010 in the last round, and the San Remo Open and the QT were also close until the very end.
I can't wait to see the games.

Hi All,
I can confirm there is no Italian in the Irish Open! Breakdown in entries is Masters = 15, Senior = 19, Intermediate = 16. Total 50 overall. The uneven number in the Masters could cause problems with 9 rounds i.e. 9 bye's, (but probably 8 players in view of re-pairing) leaving just 7 players not getting a bye. Therefore its very important who gets the byes in later rounds 7 & 8 as it will also effect honour points. This is an unwanted complication, and surely these top 2 divisions should have been evened out before play began.
I've also hear the IDA adopted the key points of the revised WCDF rules for future use. That leaves all the major Associations / Federations playing with the same set of rules ... at last. Hugh
In rd 8 Shane had two draws with Bill Dobbins[Shane 24 pts] and Ron won 3-1 agaainst Colin Young..
Ron leadds by 2 pts[on 26]...............in rd 9th and final rd
Shane and Ron are repaired ,Shane needs to win 3-1 to win overall two drs or better gives Ron the Irish Title.
Myles makes up the 3 horse race as most other players are way behind.
Myles won 3-1 in rd 8 v Tom Kee in rd 8 and is a solid third going into the last round. ....on 21 pts.Latest Myles has taken the 1st game of rd 9 again S.Croinin TO GO TO 23 PTS with 1 game to play.
AFTER RD 8..............
RON 26
Shane 24
MYles 21
ROUND 9...............
Ron v Shane
Myles v S Croinin.

Ron and Francie reviewed that opening last week in my house, running up several of your book lines................ then he decides to jump other way in last round of tournament
Im back home now safe and sound, unfort for me i didnt play in the Ty because i broke a fan belt on the way up on Friday and didnt make it on time ;Myles John Joe and Shane carried on with out me.There were 50 players with quite A FEW i havent seen at a Ty for a while or havent played an Irish Open for some time..There were also some new players which is encouraging.
Ron finished on 28 out of a possible 36 [9rds].............he had two draws with Myles 2 draws with Shane ,Coiln Young took a point of him as well.Ron had no losses Shane had no losses and Myles only loss was to Shane in an earlier Round. The Percy French Hotel was very comfortable AND A GOOD SPACIOUS PLAYING ROOM [BALLROOM ACTUALLY].

Congratulations to everyone who participated...
Especially to Shane for putting on a great performance, giving the Champion a run for his money and Mr King for winning the tournament.
cheers

Danny,.....Shane was unlucky not to pin down the win agin Ron and a chance of winning overall Ty.But Moiseyev says; if theres a win line and a draw line its more n likely you pick the draw line.LOL. However King and Moiseyevs dominance is eroding and one of these days someone will pick the win line.
