Re: london eye
For the benefit of everyone there was the launch party of the 1st UK Festival of Mind Sports at the London Eye earlier tonight, an event that was dominated by the Poker Nations Cup with the other mind sports in attendance. The FMJD were represented by 4 draughts players who demonstrated the 10x10 variation. Ian and Joan Caws attended representing the EDA and WCDF.
This event was also designed to host the announcement of the details / venue of the 2nd World Mind Sports Game 2012. However it was a story of no news. The event organiser/ promoter and Director of UK Mind Sports Don Morris told them that nothing has yet been decided but there will be a further meeting tomorrow. There is uncertainty that it may not even be in the UK, so we’re still awaiting news, and at this time we are unsure of when that will materialise.

Re: london eye
Based on information I have - it is unlikely it will be in UK and not sure about 2012 or specific dates. December 1st (or 31st ?) is deadline for WCDF QT 3-moves next year. It make perfect sense to play it in USA this time and first tim since 2003 when WCDF was created.

Re: london eye
Ingo, I am talking about 3-moves QT. They were played in Barbados (2004), Scottland (2006), Beijing (2008) and Ireland (Dublin), 2010. No Las Vegas on this list.Ingo_Zachos wrote:So Las Vegas is not in the USA ?![]()

Re: london eye
Planning for a second World Mind Sports Games (WMSG) in August 2012 is now underway, with Manchester UK as the leading candidate to host. Also under consideration is a third WMSG in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in 2016.
Hot nights in Rio... wonder what the tournout for that would be...

Re: london eye
I can not confirm any of these places or dates.
Indeed, IMSA failed to give a date or venue at an announced presentation in London at November 17th.
The WCDF now asks their member federations to host a QT /WC for Women + Juniors in 2012, as well as the matches King-Scarpetta and Berdiyeva-Rosso, as it is seems possible that no WMSG may be held.
Alex, can you plz give a reference to your date and venue?
I can not confirm it as for now.

I also can confirm that WMSG-2016 will be hosted in Brazil ... more likely in the same Auqarium where they hosted recently Woman Brazil Checkers World Cup. See some photos from this event here

Re: london eye
I continue to research this issue trying to find more details and ... everything is seemsto be a bit in clouds today. There are still different versions on bridge and GO sites and more uncertainty.
The only thing I know for sure - on February 1st we'll know exactly from WCDF - where and when 3-moves 2012 QT will be played.
For the time now in Beijing we have SportAccord games where draughts are presented by 10x10 form only (20 mans and 8 woman).
