Ekaterina Bushuyeva passed away.

She only celebrated her 49 year birthday several days ago. She was a living legend in Russian checkers woman history. Grandmaster, many times World Champion, best player for many years, great friend, wife and mother.

Tears, tears, tears on my eyes, fantastic and unrecoverable loss for the entire checkers community.

I remember her as little girl when she just started playing checkers in Moscow in 1970's.

She used to be the only woman in history who ever won "man Moscow championship", she collected many medals and victories in woman and man events, she was unbetable for long period of time lasted in almost 20 years !

She recently won in August in Brazil Woman World Cup event. And absolutely nothing at this time signaled that tragedy is on the way and she had very little time left.

My deep sympathy to all relatives, family, friends and anyone who knew Katerina.

Ekaterina was not ony the great player but also very attractive person, very popular with colleagues and media.

Is there any information about the circumstances of her death?

Where? When? What did she die of?

Was her name Ekaterina? or Katerina?

her full official first name is Ekaterina, however Katerina is also correct but less official.

As of now I can say that the reason of death was more likely doctors wrong diagnosis which leaded to wrong medications and finally - kidney failure.

Preliminary funerals supposed to be on Tuesday, 12/20, but due to highly unexpected and untested status of death this was postponed by several days for additional investigation.

Thats all I know.

i had named the files "Ekaterina Bushuyeva" in cyrillic and the forum rejected them because of that.... i am no expert but i think that is the cause of why i couldnt upload the photos.....
