John,

In terms of good management - what is step/task #1, who is in charge and what is deadline ?
I am playing checkers, not chess.

What do you like about checkers?: I enjoy learning more and more as i go. despite its alleged simplicity the game is incredibly complex and rewarding.

John , thanks for posting this...

I think people would be far more willing to contribute (not just pecuniary, but in other ways as well) if they knew that there is a plan to fight the current trends and problems. Only good can come off from implementing what you mentioned. Let us hope something can be done about it.

"we may only have one Player's Representative, but we can have hundreds of representative players."

A great sentiment, mate... a great quote... good onya !!!!!!

I would love to see the grass roots effort (Kim's school project, clubs, etc) pushed harder. More descriptions, pictures, videos, etc of what people are doing at their local clubs. I'm sure some people would like to start/join these types of things but there's not much information out there about them.
Same for tournaments. JR does a great job for the pictures that get sent to him, but I think we need to do more to try and explain the experience of attending an event.

One of the pieces I'm working on for the new events page is an "I'm attending/Planning/Would like to/etc". As well as listing out Players/Referee/Kibitzer/etc.
Additionally I've been contemplating adding a "Reviews" section for those who had attended, but I'm still undecided. I think it could be useful, but also abused.

I am not having a go at whomever is responsible for its design, update and content.... all i am saying is, it could do with a lot of improvement.... we are in the 21st century now...

cheers

I ask and nobody responds. I'm not an active checker player anymore and not a mind reader. I need to know what you want to see on the website.

Rather than cluttering up John's great topic with posts further discussing individual ideas, I've created a new forum section and moved the Website update Discussion there.
I will continue to do so as I see fit when discussion about a particular topic goes for several posts in order to keep this specific topic about new ideas.
