Should Michael Holmes have played on for the win against Mr. Alex?
Where is the draw for white if play continues...?

Hi, George ! In position on diagram me and Michael agreed with draw because both of us saw continuation: 15-18, 23x7, 5x14, 15-10, 2x11, 10-6, 32-28, 26-22 Draw
I can assure you that Michael never play "for draw" with me in the past several years and couple times was successful (last time in 2008 I beleive). Same with me. I fought very hard in this game and almost overplayed it (haha). Michael played it accurately and solidly and draw was a logical result of this game which lasted 2.5 hours.
We didn't have time to play second game - lucky Michael

I am playing checkers, not chess.

Thank you, Mr. Alex. Perhaps you and Mr. Holmes will meet again in the Volunteer State!

2012 Tennessee Open
We will probably get to play again before the next TN tourney George. My son and I have plans to play in the IL tourney. Both of us will be playing in the masters!

Would be interesting to have a father versus son matchup! When is the last time that has happened in an ACF tournament?

We both played in the one PA division, but we never actually played each other. That is what I meant, has a father and son actually played each other in an ACF tournament before.

Michael Holmes,
If you do meet your son across the board in Illinois this year, will you take it easy on him?
Has he ever won a game from you?

Re: 2012 Tennessee Open
Alex Holmes plays a lot of his games at a high level. He has drawn the likes of Larry Keen, John Webster (actually, Alex missed a win), Jeff Webster, and Ron King in tournament play. However, so as not to avoid the question the answer is that Alex has beat me..., and Chuck Freeman, to name another strong master.
Hopefully, if my son and I play, I will not lose a game. I can tell you it will not be easy for me though.

Re: 2012 Tennessee Open
The Holmes boys are competitors, they will fight hard across the board. When I have played Justin in tournaments, I played him as hard as I could and he loves to beat me and never lets up regardless the venue.
We have tried to avoid playing in the same division a couple of times.
Anyway, it thrills me to see Alex playing at his current level and knowing "This is just the start"
Look out Daddy Holmes here he comes !!!

Re: 2012 Tennessee Open
Michael has taught his son very well. I saw him play, and win some tuff players in Tennessee... He is truly a Major player and I can see him soon playing in the Masters division...Michael always tells people not to allow Alex to win, but to play him hard and make him win. In ans. to the question, will Michael let him win??? I would say no...I have so much respect for both Father and Son...
Hope to see everyone in Ill. Good Luck Alex.
