Re: German Open
Dear John,
this year`s German Open were won by Igor Martynov with 33/36 .I was 2nd with 28 (losing both games to Igor with the ballot 1. 10-15 21-17 , 2. 15-18. He made no mistake this weekend! ). Juri Geisenblas was 3rd with 27 points, and Lisa-Marie Henkel of Korbach became German Women Champion. The unluckiest player of the event by far was Clemens Crucius, a former German draughts 100 champion from Cologne. After day one (five rounds) he was just one point trailing to Igor, but after he drew Igor he then lost the remaining 7 games in a row, though he had a win in some of them, and only fisnished 6th.
Final result:
1. IM Igor Martynov (Duesseldorf) 33 (German Champion)
2. CM Ingo Zachos (Dortmund) 28
3. Juri Geisenblas (Osnabrueck) 27
4. Jan Zioltkowski (Korbach) 25
5. Thomas Juergens (Korbach) 24
6. Clemens Crusius (Cologne) 18
7. Frank Sievert (Hamburg) 13
8. Lisa-Marie Henkel (Korbach) 8 (German Women Champion)
9. Jürgen Sievert (Hamburg) 2 (82 years old -> tournament senior)
9. Dr. Heike Henkel (Korbach) 2
Crosstable, pictures and maybe videos will be published at the site of the IGDD:

Games were not recorded, as we all agreed to play with 15 min and 2 sec. each move (Fischer modus). This way it was possible to see the Football games, and yet play the event on two days with 9 rounds and two games each round, plus we could return home on sunday.
Nevertheless, I will show some positions that I recall from the games next week, and also a few pictures on this forum.
Greetinx from Dortmund on a sunny day,
Ingo
