Re: World Championship Match : Ron King vs. Sergio Scarpetta
Bad luck for Ron King.
Sergio Scarpetta scored the equalizer in the 13th game, and the second game of the morning session ended in a draw,
So now the chip count is even:
Ron King (Barbados) 1
Sergio Scarpetta(Italy) 1
Drawn: 12
Still ten games to go and too close to call.
While the excitement grows, do not forget to watch the games:

Hope u enjoy it,

There is no transmission as there is a break now. That`s why it stopped.
Greetinx,

PS:
But would be nice if the chatroom were still open after the end of transmission.

I corrected my previous step to replace "after 30-25" by "after 19-15".john reade wrote:2-6 instead of 26-22 seems to do it.

Re: World Championship Match : Ron King vs. Sergio Scarpetta
Fantastic, really fantastic !!! Just received an email from Ryan Pronk with text of Game 13 which ... completeley repeat G12 with my analyses yesterday showing how Sergio missed a win in Game 12. It seems like Sergio read ACF forum yesterday and Ron didn't ! WOW
My analytical work were not for nothing !
This is perhaps first time when Internet had serious influnce on real play.

Hmmm Scarpetto makes a bad end-game mistake Ron King 2-1 and must be favorite to retain.?

Re: World Championship Match : Ron King vs. Sergio Scarpetta
The better checker players are also the better endgame players, they find ways to win. Ron pressed hard and tired Sergio. Bad loss for Sergio, a game he should have drew, now it is going to be extemely tough for Sergio to win the next 2 of 8 games left. If I am Ron, I just want to try and play easy lines to keep the title.

Is this in Game 16? It looked like a draw to me.

Re: World Championship Match : Ron King vs. Sergio Scarpetta
The 15th and 16th games of the World Championship Match
were tense and hard fought and in game 16 Ron King won an ending on a blunder.
The score now is:
Ron King (Barbados) 2
Sergio Scarpetta (Italy) 1
Greetinx from cloudy and rainy Dortmund, Germany
Ingo Zachos

Re: World Championship Match : Ron King vs. Sergio Scarpetta
Did Ron King refuse to accept a draw?
There were 2 points where Sergio took a long time over his move. I put both positions on the computer and found them to be drawn after 20 moves.
Why was he taking so long?

G16. S. Scarpetta vs R. King

White to move and draw.
23-27 draw the game (still some play remain) but Sergio played losing 5-9? 18x27 9-18 27-24* 17-22 (or 18-22 24-20 16-19 10-15 19-23 15-18 WW) 1-6 and resigned.
Pretty.
