Re: ACF National 2012.
will the ratings continue to be just a guide or are there any plans from the ACF to enforce those ranges?

Re: ACF National 2012.
I am not sure Danny. I think the ACF should at least use them to ensure that people who should be playing up, are not playing down and sandbagging. If people want to play up a division that is a different story. The thing is, that is what a lot of people are doing, but therefore we are getting pathetic minor turnout these days. It just is kind of embarrassing for the people who did play in the minors if you ask me. I am not trying to blame those who played up though as that is not the bigger issue. No doubt the number of lower rated people are decreasing. If you look at the ACF rating list you will see almost 85 percent of the people are above 1600, which is suppose to be the half way point. So, the ACF is losing many minor level players. That right there is one reason we need to at least ensure that no one plays down if we want to attract new players.

Re: ACF National 2012.
Alex Holmes continues to move up in placement. I have been very impressed with his skill for several years. John Acker, thanks for having Alex on Ustream. The first time I used it and it was to see my son playing checkers. It was awesome to watch my son play checkers yesterday. Is there a calendar as to who and when they will be on? And is there a way I can download yesterdays video?
Again, thanks John for moving checkers into the tech world.

Re: ACF National 2012.
In the 5th round I played 4 draws with Larry Keen and Lubabalo played 4 draws with Richard Hallett. Ron King got 4 points against Jack Francis and is tie now with Lubabalo for 2-3 places (both 13 points).
In the next round I should play with Tim Laverty (11 points), Ron should play with Larry Keen (12) points and Lubabalo goes down to "BIG TEN's" (haha) - big group of people with 10 points (four or five).
All for now.

Re: ACF National 2012.
Michael, results of all divisions are here http://acfnationals.com/
Alex finished tournament with 38 points, John Estes finished with 37 points. Only Alan Millhone can catched him. He has 31 points and round is in progress: two Presidents are playing! - ACF and BDA.
Michael, Alex succes is tremendous, you must be very proud of this !
BTW. I won Black Hole against Tim Laverty, it looks like Lubabalo should have a weak draw against Jim Morrison in 1st game and game Ron King against Larry Keen is still in clouds (it's on life stream I beleive)
Alex M ... yeaa ... now I have to add initials to avoid confusing haha

Keen v King at move 16:
B: 5,6,7,8,15, 16, 20,
W: 14,17, 25, 27,28,31,32.
White to play.
King could have played 28-24 ! (instead of 25-21)

Re: ACF National 2012.
Alan Millhone is a top notch player known to have won games from even Ron King so should be another close match. John Estes is a good friend of mine that I use to play about twice a week when I lived in Nashville so Alex H. and John Estes should have another close match too. Regardless of how the last round goes I think Alex Holmes has proven that he too is a top notch checker player. We all are very proud of him.
Re: ACF National 2012.
I'm sure everyone agrees with that! It's nice to see the only Hoosier at the National doing so well. I feel Alex will rack up another win tomorrow and become the 2012 Majors' Champion and with Alex having just turned 13 years old at the end of February makes me wonder "How far will he go in this game?". He may pass his dad before long!Alex Holmes has proven that he too is a top notch checker player.
I'm more interested in the Majors this year than the Masters.
Will be rootin' for Alex tomorrow..."Pal"

Very valid points you are making Joe.... I hope the people in power listen to your suggestions and thoughts as I feel that you are right on the money with what you said about attracting new minor players. cheers mateChexhero wrote:I am not sure Danny.
