The women are taking it down to the wire after round robin event. Now Nadiya 13pts, Erika 12pts, Amangul 11pts, and Merettach 9pts. Tomorrow will see Nadiya Vs Erika and Amangul Vs Merettach.

In the mens event its interesting to see four Italians playing on the top three boards.

Richard´s play has not been of his usual high standard and possibly being affected by the fact that he has been involved in meetings on a daily basis in addition to competing.

Repair !!! :D :D :D Amangul chances to retain title are in big clouds and more likely tomorrow we should have a new Ladies 3-moves World Champion.

"Nadia" is short name, full name: "Nadejda" which means on English - HOPE.

Looks like its Borghettis to lose still.................Ron and Rich have fallen away as Hugh says Rich been distracted which is a bad thing in a big Ty.Ron is just not himself?? Ron will get a chance to redeem himself at the N.Ireland Open. So..........only Scrapetta now stands alone with an outsider chance. My money is still on Michele.

Interesting to see today all predictions. The Russian joking quote is: "Our predictions make God smiling !" :D

But it looks like your prediction is right and mine is only half right. Ron certainly lost more than two and certainly won more than 9. A good argurement is that his losses did indeed determine the winner!

Quick update ....
Michele and Jim balloted 11-15 23-18 8-11 and had drawn both games in less than 10 minutes in total. That was enough to give Michele the GOLD.

Sergio is playing Garret and they drew 10-15 23-18 12-16 and first game is ongoing ... 26-23 8-12 24-19

Perhaps the most interest here is the strength of the two players from Ukraine - Nadiya and Oleksandr Kolin.

Yesterday I spoke with Nadiya through an intrepretor (Bashim). She relates that she is 27 yrs old and born in Ukraine. She became interested in Draughts at an early age through a local club, but her parents did not play. She won the World Youth Championships at Brazilian Draughts in 2003, and played in the 1st WMSG in Beijing in 2008 where she finished 10th in Russian Draughts. She seen the schedule for the 2nd WMSG circulated during April 2012 and the invitation to other countries to compete. She asked her National Federation to enter and had never played Checkers prior to this. She spent the past few months playing against a computer and in practice matches with Oleksandr Kolin before coming here. Her skill is remarkable!

But lets not overlook Oleksandr either. His results have also been remarkable as a look at his scores will demonstrate. He has great natural abilities, and wins the award for the best dressed entrant!!!

Nadiya Chyzhevska has won the Gold Medal and becomes the new World Womens Champion, Amangul Berdiyeva takes Silver, with Erika Rosso taking bronze .... Sergio won his second game to claim the Silver medal irrespective of the result of Ron King´s last game (ongoing). which will decide the bronze.

Started working on bid :D

Congratulations to Michele and Sergio ! Very solidly and impressive. Italy got 2 medals.

Miki level definetely improved last year as well as overall level of WQT. We should have very interesting match which is very beneficiary for game.

I can officially confirm now that WQT is stronger than Alabama and Kentucky State Tournaments :D

Congratulations to Nadia !!!

American people are more kind and polite :D :D

On serious note - Ron didn't work on his PP knowledges for long time and our European and Turkmenistan friends definetely are ahead of him now on this field.

My prediction was spot on................except for Rich who was replaced by Sergio. It looks like the Italians are the new Americans and we will have to get this new EUROPEAN team up and running soon and kick some USA :!:.. lol. With the Italians and the Irish it will be some time before the USA win another, cant wait for it.Bring it on...................EUROPE V USA!! Now thats just a little bitty food for thought and some strring da pot.

But seriously there was no doubt the QT was much stronger than the US Open and what a field it will be in future when the Italians ,Ukrainians,S.A. etc travel to take part in the US Open.Hopefully soon.

A big wel done to Miki and his fellow countrymen who really consoldidated their performance from the Dublin QT. Theyve shown they are no flash in the pan and are here to stay. Long live MIKI.

Garrett Owens done good too and i commend BASHIM who also is on the up and one to look out for when he gets a lil older.

The new Ladies WC Nadiya [Ukr]is an interesting and fresh addition and may even save the womens competitions for years to come. Well done to her.

Im still disappointed my friend Richard wasnt in the final mix................but he may have had to many other things to think about.

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW ...I just seen Hughs post..........Bashim beats Ron............THE BUTTERMILK IS CLEARLY ON THE TURN!!
