Maybe opposite way - you all come here ?

We can setup an interesting tread - who was hurt and impacted more with modern economy - Europe or USA :D

BTW. Do you want to be an European team captain ?

The FID hosted the Nations Cup in 2009, which had the idea that each nation sends a team of four players, like in a chess Olympiad, but not many federations took that idea up.

I think that would be more suitable then a team event USA vs. Europe.

Also in Lille blitz and rapid team events were played with three or two players in one team in Draughts 100.

A similar event could be played at the next WMSG in Checkers. Imagine, Italy, the USA, Turkmenistan, Germany, Ukraine, Israel, Great Britain, Czech Republic and Ireland could have been represented. And with some efforts more countries.

In Beijing 2008 Mongolia, Japan, Barbados, Russia and Lithuania would have also been able to sent a team with two players for a team rapid in addition to the countries named above.

What s your American line-up? Lets see how the match up.............name that tune.?
In last name alphabetic order

1). R. Beckwith
2). R. Hallett
3). M. Holmes
4). L. Keen
5). T. Laverty
6). A. Moiseyev
7). J. Moore
8 ). J. Morrison
9). C. Nash
10). R. Pronk
11). J. Schwartz
12). J. Webster

This is 12 members team .. in case Hallett and someone can't make it.

Alternatives:

1). A. Bishop
2) C. Freeman
3). A. Millhone
4). T. Stanley

Did I miss anyone ? I am also apologise if someone thinks he should be among top 12, not alternatives ... or not added to alternatives. Everyone is strong enough and it is really very hard to rank players. Maybe we need just 16-20 boards for one side match ? :D

Count me in on the European side Alex, haha i kid i kid :)

Team Europe to be selected from...............................the following. By my reckoning we will beat your first 5 boards.

Hugh Devlin,
M.Borghetti.

Myles Hannigan

Frank Moran
C.Young
T.Watson
T.Canning NON PLAYING CAPITAN.

Subs.................Adam Johnston,G Callaghan,S. O Driscoll, and a few more.

If YOU WANT TO ENLARGE TO 12/15 PLAYERS PER TEAM THEN THAT WOULD BE IN OUR FAVOR EVEN MORE,SUIT US NICELY.

JohnAcker wrote:Do you mean the first five boards by playing strength, or just alphabetically? IMO only Shane, Michele, and perhaps Sergio have chances against Alex.
Billy Docherty & Hugh Devlin will pose a serious threat along with Matteo Bernini who keeps improving all the time. I think Tommy needs to include more players east of Ireland & UK..... F Kareta, I Martinov, M Shabsai, O Koln and few more Italian players would give a better balance to the European side and help promote the game throughout the continent.
