I am not sure about that John. From what I saw you came ahead of Shane in the 2010 Irish Open. I don't believe in accidents eitherjohnmcelhone wrote:I come up well short against GM's Joe. Subs.................Adam Johnston,G Callaghan,S. O Driscoll, AND A FEW MORE.
Yes our bottom boards would be wile STRONG THEN. F Kareta, I Martinov, M Shabsai, O Koln and few more Italian players.
Dunno how we re gonna fit ALL these bhoys in??
Myles was talking last night abt that 30-26line you were looking at in Cookstown in the Black Widow in Canning Comp. Nice we line ,so we had a look at it......
11-16 23-19 16-23 26-19 8-11 27-23 4-8 22-18 11-16** (I had prepared on this line for some study/practice games with Myles)
We looked at this line briefly in Cookstown . Your book gives a couple of ways to play it while in Pask's Golden Dozen only the hazardous 28-24...32-28 line is given.
In round 4 of the home internationals I had the black hole against Myles, he beat me on the 25-22 line and the reverse side was a draw on the 24-19 line. Felt sick when I drew one of the new ballots against such a knowledgeable player on the new openings. Things didn't get any easier when I didn't follow 5-9 with 12-16 instead I played 7-10 which he hit straight away.
In round 5 I had Tinsleys Denny against Brian Lucas luckily I managed a win from both sides as my opponent informed me he has never really bothered much with the new ballots.

Re: Europeans vs Americans.
Accidents and luck can and do play a huge part in tournaments under the swiss pairings system. In that tournament Shane balloted a huge number of GAYP\2move openers. My head to head record against Shane is woeful a few draws here and there with a lot of defeats.Chexhero wrote:I am not sure about that John. Re: Europeans vs Americans.
My European “Dream Team” to play the USA would be:
Michele Borghetti (grandmaster), Sergio Scarpetta (grandmaster), William Docherty (grandmaster), Richard Pask (grandmaster), Sean McCoster (grandmaster), Tom Watson (grandmaster), Hugh Devlin (grandmaster),
James Grant (grandmaster), Myles Hannigan (grandmaster), and Colin Young (grandmaster).
Alex, do you think the USA team would beat the European team mentioned here? If so, can you please provide the team you have in mind? Certainly an interesting subject. Would like to hear from anybody of course on this subject.

Hi Tommy,
Sorry about that slip. Should have said Shane, As for me playing in such an event it would be out of the question. My father was the player Tommy. I just push a bit of plastic, lol.
All the best,
Lindus.
