Cross Lines

Post by Michael Holmes »

Can someone help me figure out if this 26-22 line draws. It seems that 16-19 27-24 and 9-13 is the best attack but I am not sure. There are so many lines red can play I just dont know if they all draw.
Thanks,
Michael

Here is diagram of position where Mr. Holmes is questioning. For me status of this fine move: 26-22 is still untested. It seems very suspicious, but require alot cross aboard skills from both opponents.

It was a nice and good attempt of Mr. Holmes to use this with success against two top players, but "everything is good only once" ! The question is - can this being used against low level players ? The answer maybe - YES, if they don't visit ACF forum  and not aware of 9-13*

Well, I think both 11.16-19 AND 11. 9-13 r good, but if white prepared well, he will find the draw. Without knowledge, "obviously" red is better, but this advantage is too small to be converted.
Maybe 10.11-16 deserves attention against a player who seems to be "prepared" ?

Michael, I would like to play this game with you sometime if you are up for it. I am on IYT and kings at times. I want to give 16-20 a go.

Michael,

I played this game out with kingsrow/10pc, starting with the position after 26-22 at move 10, and got this interesting game with a man down draw ending.

Thanks Ed!

Wow! I was hoping for some sort of hope for this move. The eight piece database with less than 2 minutes to play shows it in the negative 40's or 50's so I was not sure if this was a draw or not. Thank you very much for your work and time on this.

Seems pretty difficult to figure out hey shr you should put the numbers on the boards to help others understand what's going on...

This line of play (26-22 and many of its variations) is in Ed's book10.odb that can be downloaded off his page. http://pages.prodigy.net/eyg/Checkers/BH_draws.htm
